Yeah I don't think that page accurately reflects the playlist. They definitely wouldn't have taken the Weeknd off either, it's only gone B-B-A-A so far. The new additions look right though.

I’m in the process of trying to work out the playlist using the track lists on the website. I’m not sure it will be 100% accurate, but hopefully I’ll get somewhere close and I should be able to post it tomorrow if that’s ok with you! :)

Weekend morning show presenter Maya Jama has left BBC Radio 1 after deciding not to renew her contract.

 

She joined the station in 2018 and has most recently been hosting 10am-1pm on Friday and Saturdays.

 

During the coronavirus schedules the weekend mornings slot has been on a 3-week changing cylce between Maya, Jordan North and Dev & Alice. Radio 1 says Jordan, Dev and Alice will continue to do the show in rotation. It means Maya’s final show on the station was Sunday 3rd May.

 

The BBC says ‘exciting commitments later in the year’ mean she’s not able to dedicate the time needed to her show.

 

Recent press reports suggest she has been offered the chance to appear on this year’s Strictly Come Dancing.

 

Maya said: “Thanks to all you cuties that tuned into the show. It was so great to hear that we have been getting the largest proportion of under 35s tuning in for our on-demand show via BBC Sounds. So we are going out with a bang! Love you.”

 

Lorna Clarke, BBC Controller Popular Music, said, “We’d like to thank Maya for all her commitment and hard work at Radio 1, and we wish her all the very best with her future.”

 

Before joining Radio 1, Maya had been a presenter with London community station Rinse FM where she did the weekday drivetime show.

Oops bad decision from her imo - it was a big gig but she never seemed to care for it and rarely got involved in appearing on the other shows during the week or covering shows when someone is away unlike all the other DJs. I feel Radio 1 maybe had a hand in the decision rather than it being all from Maya’s perspective?

She kinda looks like a model so probably will get a presenting job, not a face for radio anyway.

She’s becoming more and more prominent on TV presenting roles now so wouldn’t say it was a bad decision, plus not all other DJ’s cover different shows..when was the last time you saw Greg cover the 10am show or nick cover the 7pm show.

I remember before he was even the producer, when he was just a Broadcast Assistant or something and he went on air to give updates on Fame Academy.

So Radio 2 will be reverting back to their normal schedule from next week so hopefully can't be long now before Radio 1 do likewise. They will need a new presenter for Friday and Saturday mornings though now Maya has left. Jordan must be favourite for this slot I reckon.

Alice Levine has just announced that she has left Radio 1!! Really sad about that, I loved her shows with Dev in the afternoon

Sad to hear that Alice is leaving, I always loved listening to her shows with Dev, feels a bit like the end of an era. I wonder with Maya and now Alice leaving if more people will begin to leave.
