I've just clocked that from next weekend Matt and Mollie are gone from the schedule and have been replaced by Ore Olukoga (Fri) and Nikita Kanda (Sat/Sun). Had this been announced before? That's quite the break they'll be having before starting their new weekday show in July.

Also worth mentioning that Radio 1 are returning to Download Festival this year again for the weekend of 14th June, 1-4pm Fri and Sat with a Highlights show on the Sunday at 9pm. Jack Saunders, Nels Hylton, Daniel P Carter and Alyx Holcombe will be presenting the coverage.

Sam and Danni are being given brekfast duties w/c 17th June, which is a big deal for them really. With Jordan gone, Matt and Mollie off/moving shows and Dean also moving shows I guess they'll be looking now at who can regularly cover for Greg when he isn't in.

Breakfast Show is extending to 11am for the summer, like last year (Mon-Thur only)

Sam and Danni are now taking over the Friday Early Breakfast show until January 2025 whilst continuing Weekend Breakfast too.

Lots of different festivals are being featured, as we've already seen with Download and Parklife, in the weekend 1pm-4pm slot.

Martha has been covering the late Annie Nightingale's Tuesday night slot since January and she's now been confirmed as the permanent host of the show.

Radio 1 Dance will be getting a host of new shows too from 15th July

- Arielle Free will present Radio 1 Dance Morning every day

- Danny Howard will present Radio 1's Dance Party Warm Up Thursdays 6-8pm

- Pete Tong will front Essential History of Dance every Saturday 7-8pm

- Connor Coates gets the Radio 1 Dance daily playlist show and provides output from Northern Ireland

- There will also be a specialist evening show that will focus on specific dance labels

So this is how Radio 1 Dance will be looking from 15th July. Commissioning Radio 1 Dance playlist, Dance Anthems (new incarnation) and the Morning Show to only air on the station may pull in listeners as they prepare for a possible DAB launch.

Mon-Wed

00:00-05:00 - Various mixes and repeats as normal

05:00-06:00 - Radio 1's Dance Anthems with Charlie Hedges (Seemingly the Sunday morning 1 hour classic mix)

06:00-09:00 - Radio 1 Dance with Connor Coates (Show increased to 3 hours and will no longer be broadcast on Radio 1 at 4am. This will be a repeat of the show at 12pm from the day before)

09:00-12:00 - Radio 1 Dance Morning with Arielle Free (This will also be repeated 2am the next morning)

12:00-15:00 - Radio 1 Dance with Connor Coates (New episode each weekday)

15:00-18:00 - Radio 1's Dance Anthems with Charlie Hedges (New 3 hour show seemingly separate from the Saturday show on Radio 1)

18:00-20:00 - Pete Tong (Repeat of various Friday shows)

20:00-21:00 - Various Mixes (e.g. Danny Howard's Club Mix, Drum & Bass Mix, Sarah Story's Future Dance Mix)

21:00-23:00 - "Dance Label" on Radio 1 Dance (e.g. DnB Allstars)

23:00-01:00 - Radio 1's Residency (Repeat) / Martha (New - Tues) / Radio 1's Essential Mix (Repeat)

Thursday, as above except...

20:00-22:00 - Radio 1's Rave-Up with Arielle Free

22:00-23:00 - BBC Introducing on Radio 1 Dance

23:00-00:00 - Radio 1's Residency

Friday, as above except...

Normal R1 Dance schedule from 6pm I don't need to type this :P

Greg is going to be live with Arielle on Monday to launch the new Radio 1 Dance Morning show, that should be a good listen.

Also really pleased to learn that Radio 1's Chillout Anthems is back having not had a new show since September (they've just been repeating previous shows every week since) and they've altered the show to include a broader ranger of tracks with Jess Iszatt now presenting. The Radio 1 Relax show ends tomorrow but the actual station on Sounds is continuing for the time being but that too will be ending (I believe on 24th July).

So Radio 1 Relax did indeed close today at 2pm. A sad day really as it's been a fabulous stream to switch over to.

It is worth heading to BBC Sounds and listen to the final Relax show with Jess Iszatt and Sian Eleri presenting together here

Thanks Lewis - downloaded for my bus journey tomorrow!

Why is it being closed?

To make way for the upcoming expansion of other BBC stations mentioned earlier in this thread (Radio 1, Radio 2, Radio 3 all have them starting soon on Sounds though the Radio 2 one is up for scrutiny atm). It costs money to make these shows with the expansion of R1 Dance already now in full swing and looking likely to move into DAB too.

Chillest Show, Chillout Anthems and Power Down Playlist are continuing just under the Radio 1 output instead.

FYI - we've now got a shiny new Radio 1 Playlist Archive underneath the Chart Vault subforum, to find all playlist threads dating back to the start of the forum for easy reference!

:magic: credit to me catching up on all the songs that have been playlisted over the past ~5 months and thinking it would make sense to make an archive for these too if we have ones for the chart show and midweeks threads now x

Aside: very late but does anyone know if there was a BBC Introducing track for the week of 29th March in the end? The playlist thread for that week just said 'none listed' and was never updated. Though there was also a post later in that thread saying that whole playlist only actually covered Tuesday to Thursday so maybe that'd explain if there wasn't one!

It was the Easter Weekend so they didn't have a full playlist that week. Looking back and checking a few other sources there doesn't appear to have been an allocated BBC Introducing TOTW at all
