Great to see, I was worried a space would never open up for Antonio. And it's just more exciting than another year of Ericsson.... Marcus's F1 career reminds me of a driver from the mid 90s to early 00's, name has gone.

Things to look out for in Russia:

- Daniil Kvyat is expected to formalise his return to Toro Rosso next season.

- Rumours abound that Marcus Ericsson might be cut loose from Sauber, as Giovinazzi takes his place for FP1.

- Norris is also doing FP1, along with Artem Markelov and Nicholas Latifi.

Who’d have thought Kvyat would be back!!! He owes a lot to Sainz and Dani Ric leaving as well as the junior programme looking sparse.

I don’t buy the second one though as Ericsson is remaining the third driver and general marketing slave for next year. I think his people have a stake in the team so can see him getting Kimi’s seat if he retires midway through the deal (as many expect)

Pedro Diniz by any chance (1995-2000)?

Pedro Diniz by any chance (1995-2000)?

Yes, thank you! That was the driver I was thinking of. Marcus's F1 career reminds me of Diniz's for some reason.

Haas have announced that they will retain their line-up of Kevin Magnussen and Romain Grosjean for next year, only the second after Mercedes to retain their existing line-up.

Magnussen has probably done just about enough to warrant another year but Grosjean can consider himself a bit lucky.

Confirmed that Kvyat will return to Toro Rosso next season, his third stint there after being dropped last year. What do you make of this?
It's surprising but he's really not as bad as everyone makes out, remember he actually beat Ricciardo in his first year at Red Bull. He had a rough time after being dropped back to Toro Rosso with far too many mistakes but he's definitely got some raw speed. Besides, there's really not a lot of choice otherwise is there? (Shockingly) Even the terrible Hartley may end up retaining his seat.

I can see what you're saying but Diniz was probably the best of the pay drivers I can recall. He picked up a fair number of points in an era where on the top six scored.

I think he was far better than Ericsson is

but don't tell me that crap drivers like Grossjean and Kyviat and gonna get a seat, but Ocon is not, thats not fair

Kyviat is not that bad but he did cause some accident or something, right?

I'm not saying Kyvat is better than Ocon at all but Toro Rosso are only ever gonna pick drivers with Red Bull ties or from their driver programme. In the long run I don't think this is too bad news for Ocon though as I believe he'll be Merc reserve next season with a view to a potential permanent seat perhaps the year after in place of Bottas.

As for today it is a bit of a shame Bottas wasn't allowed that win at a track he's clearly very strong at but I never understand the level of vitriol. This sort of stuff has happened for EVER in the Sport, it's especially rich coming from Ferrari fans.

I can’t stand team orders. I think if you’re not good enough to overtake then on your head be it. This is supposed to be about talent at the end of the day and if you’ve not enough talent to get past your team mate then you should sit there.

I’d make it illegal again personally.

Brb finding some incriminating photos of Haas to have them disqualified again

Yesterday was one of the few occasions where Hamilton came across quite well post race. I thought he looked genuinely conflicted and uncomfortable at being gifted the win like that.

One can only hope that later in the season, with the title sown up, he has a chance to emulate Senna giving payback to Gerhard Berger at Suzuka '91 and moves over for Bottas at some point.

Team orders always leave a bitter taste but banning them is really difficult to enforce, and it's not always a case of not being good enough to make the move. Hamilton is clearly a far better driver than Bottas but with F1 set up in such a way that cars lose so much downforce as to make overtaking such a rare event, that becomes the real problem.

Mercedes 1-2, Ferrari 3-4, Red Bull 5-6, it probably will be this weekend...... So predictable at times.
