My current entry will DNQ but then the song I'm thinking of entering to 105 will qualify, which will break the long wished-for pattern of three qualifiers in a row (since 'Malarone' qualified it'll be Q-DNQ-Q, instead of Q-Q-Q like I want x), rendering me silly.

Seriously though you seem to have an extremely warped view of how people vote and it's actually insulting to insinuate people don't bother listening to songs and ranking them the way they're meant to, what's the point in just bloc voting or backing your friends? Its an online song contest it's really not that deep. There are no group chats there are no secret conversations saying who everyone should back. This contest works like most things in that it does see certain trends at certain points, there's posters that are better at spotting them first or who's personal tastes tend to align more to them. You are forgetting you have won before, you have sent the right type of song at the right time so?

 

If I just keep sending pop rock tracks I'm bound to hit that trend wave when it momentarily passes every four years or so :) *sends dance this month and a rock song will win*

Exactly, I hate "group chats" or "cliques" being brought up, because the whole "skype vs. lottsey" thing the other year it just feels like people are punished for having friends and getting on with other people. From a personal example and standpoint, within the chats I am I feel like between them they kind of account for a lot of my music taste, and that is part of the reason I get on really well with some point - this is a music contest after all and that's what has mostly brought us together. But there are people like say Bray in BJSC who I hardly ever point but get on well with, as much as there are people like say Lew who I seem to usually point as well as really getting on with him, and then people like say Ryan who I point a lot and never talk to. As has been said millions of times in this exact tired kind of debate, nobody has ever gone "x popularity contest just happened and x came top 10, I better point this entry I hate to make it win", and as Addy said if it was on popularity Jade would pretty much win every time, and she hasn't got a win yet :lol: Similarly, nobody is going to go "Iz predicted Dobago to win, I must point this even though I don't like the song". It's simply about getting the right song, at the right time, and anyone can do that. Some posters' tastes are probably better suited to doing well more often but that's nobody's fault it's just how it goes.

 

"X only does well because they're popular" is thrown out by the same people as excuses to why they flop and it's tiring (but not enough so to stop me adding to the narrative apparently :kink:)
