Oh wow, that's pretty dreadful. This era in general has been... disheartening. The music's good and that's ultimately what matters, but the commercial response has been so tepid. I can't at the prospect of this being their lowest selling album (along with 'Salute' -- by far and away their best offerings). The GP suck.

Edit: It's actually reminding me a lot of the Ellie Goulding situation post-Halcyon. She was huge for a moment and looked set to build upon that hype, but 'Delirium' opened to disappointing numbers despite 'On My Mind' being a hit, and the era never really recovered. Let's hope LM push more than two singles; I reckon 'Monster In Me' could really sell the album.

It’s kind of bizarre. Big hit. Lots of promo. Huge in radio? It’s done 6.7k across Friday and Saturday? After Graham and a massive HMV offed that’s....sad.
Honestly can’t see more than three singles, I expect a re-release before the tour though.
So basically Nicki Minaj ended their career.
It's because this album is different from the past 2 which has propelled them into superstardom. This sound is different for the GP who love the pop sound LM are known for

Think About Us is basically another Glory Days track though which is why I expected the performance on Graham to help out a lot.

My exact thoughts, they returned to pop following the Salute era as that never went as well as expected! This is their Salute era again but I don’t think they will get another top five single from this album unless they rent a rapper!

But Jonjo says it would be top 3/5 :(
With the GN promo and knowing they had the HMV offer I was (obviously) very confident it would be (plus, don't forget it's ofc just my own opinion). I just don't get why it isn't (even if they are the 2nd highest "relevant" act - behind Ezra - the rest of the albums are either soundtracks or very radio 2/mum/OAP friendly.) it's crazy that this isn't even top 10 in the mids. It hurts most coz I just love the girls so much and they deserve the absolute world and to me it's a shame the UK public aren't here for the slight change in sound... Again. Instead they want the same old, same old.

For me, it’s more than a slight change of sound. I adored Little Mix before Woman Like Me, mostly due to their songs being incredibly recognisable and catchy. But now, it just seems like they’re trying too hard. Anyone could sing Woman Like Me (I even prefer Jess Glynne’s demo!), whereas no one could sing their previous hits as they were all incredibly suited to the girls.

They just need to stop ‘remixing’ songs with boring male rappers just to get hits too. I really hope they can go back to their pure pop sound for LM6, the sound that the GP fell in love with.

Also, mess at people on Twitter trying to class this as a ‘buzz album’.

That's the thing for me as well. It's a decent album, but it doesn't have that Little Mix stamp on it as much. they're putting on American accents which is the most jarring thy

I think y'all are putting too much weigh on Little Mix and not enough on the overall album market right now. I mean, they're one of the contemporary pop acts in the top 20, including those acts who released their albums after LM5. If you look at the chart right now its clear that the age group that are buying Little Mix albums are not the majority. Plus, they didn't but out a clean version of the album at all, which to me sends a message that they knew they'd lose a lot of their audience and don't seem to care.

Do I think that the album could be doing better despite that and probably would've done better if they'd stuck to pure pop? Probably. But personally, I think this is their best album by far. So I'll take the album that's solid from start to finish over the past two albums which were hugely successful but were mostly a handful of singles and then 75% filler. Plus, I think its clear that the girls themselves prefer this sound. They tried it earlier on with Salute and then the label made them go pop. Now they're tired of that and are trying some different influences again. I'm not gonna force them back into that corner because the album "underperformed".

As long as they continue to have singles success, I don't think this albums chart run will be relevant. The album is dying. Their continued growth on streaming services is what I'm more interested in, in terms of connecting to their primary market and also touring. Their doing fine in both of those areas which is what an act truly needs to survive in the pop industry these days.

All acts have their peak though. Little Mix are still doing much better than like Rita Ora and Clean Bandit for example. They’re not flopping, they’re just not at Glory Days heights anymore. Cqm, you’ve been trying to say they’re failures since before the album started getting going, it’s nothign to do with them ‘trying too hard’ no act stays on top forever, literally none.

It is increasingly more and more difficult for a female pop album to do well, only Ariana and (unfortunately) Jess Glynne have done well this year really.

I suspect Zara and Ellie won't do too well either - maybe get a high peak but low sales.

Jess Glynne's doing well, but even she's seen a big drop off from her first album. The album chart in general looks absolutely grim right now.

I think some of you are exaggerating at bit lol . There not at there Glory Days height but there hardly flopping either and doing much better than the majority of the female related acts in the UK this year . In fact isn’t LM5 the fastest/best selling FEMALE album of the year I saw somewhere ?

No? Not at all.

But yeah, they're far from flopping. They're doing 5 nights at the o2. I think it's just disheartening to see the public not reacting to them the same way they used to. Doing a fantastic performance on Graham Norton and to DROP 5 places in the album charts is...sad.

Sorry I meant and forgot to put fast selling Female related album of the year :P I obviously know it’s not the most of the year

Ahhh that makes a lot more sense. And yes, it probably is!

Also, I've just noticed that Little Mix are the only albums in the top 10 that doesn’t have a hit. The rest are all album artists.

I think it is a combination of things, although I don't think they're underperforming as badly as some people think.

- They've been on an upwards trajectory since Black Magic, they don't last forever. The hype just isn't the same this year, which is fine.

- Woman Like Me is more of a faceless bop than an album seller. I think they have always been a singles act but managed to beat the odds with Get Weird/Glory Days and sell albums too.

- Touch was out there and starting it's ascent at this point in the Glory Days campaign. They haven't even confirmed Think About Us as a single yet.

- There has been a change in sound and image (even the album cover on Spotify is ridiculous).

- Their public/press perception has changed slightly.

- Women and pop acts are just struggling to sell albums right now.

To be honest, As a fan I have to admit I haven't listened to LM5 much, I just dont find myself wanting to go back to it the way I did with GW or GD, The few songs I do enjoy are probably because they are pop and remind me of GD maybe I am someone who likes the "same old" I just prefer the music that was on past albums to this album, If something isn't broke you shouldn't try and fix it.

I liked WLM when I first heard it but I got bored of it fast, It just wasn't catchy enough and isn't exactly an album seller.

Its sad that the album is really "underperforming" I can honestly see this being there poorest selling album at the rate its going, I mean it will go platinum during next year.

I agree with Joe, Everyone as the peak and only way from that is down, However the sale drop between GD and this is massive. I think if they would of stuck to more catchy pop they could of got a double platinum album and possibly even another #1 album, I can't see this sticking around into 2019, I think it will stay in top 40 for abit though.

Its sad to see them not performing well as a fan though.
