YTD by points

- Quintessa's top 10 hit with their anniversary entry sees them pull ahead at the #1 spot in the year to date, expanding their lead from just 6 points to a more comfortable 39. Aeroche hold onto second place. South Danaelanda didn't do as well as some predicted in BJSC 106 but still continue their upward momentum climbing 5-3, and being the highest of 8 countries passing the 1,000 points mark this month. They leapfrog Cor Lupus who are non-movers at #4, while a third top 10 hit of the year for Niceland pushes them back up 7-5.

- A top 3 smash for Unovia sees them make the YTD top 10 for the first time in 2018, up 12-6. Séyetana climb back up a place to 7th, while another top 10 hit for St. Burbia (also their third of the year) pushes them up 10-8, only missing returning to their #7 high from the first update due to a tiebreak (Séyetana having more votes in the year so far). Jadakissnia, another country getting their third top 10 of the year, return to the YTD top 10, edging up 11-9. Trifoski returned to the final after missing out last contest but nonetheless slip back another place to 10th. FSR Ashvia both DNQed this time around - FSR Rontvia slip 3-12 and République d'Ashton 6-15 as a result.

- Other climbers and new entries in the YTD top 30 and/or the BJSC 106 top 10: Cadelicia 13-11, Cowtermont 19-13 thanks to a new national best of 2nd place, Land of DW 15-14, Fljótavík 31-19 after being crowned the winners of BJSC 106, Bhangra 22-21, Vülkyria 25-22, Dobago 28-23, Rolloland 30-24, Bøtanikkä 26-25, Ramrynia 34-26, Terra Avium 37-28, Hushkanukia 33-30, Summericia 46-33 after their comeback provided their first ever top 5 hit, Oslol 56-44 as they managed not to lose another top 10 hit to non-voting this time, Frandoot brand new at #58 after their comeback entry giving them a first top 10 hit.

- Aeroche remain at the top of this list, although South Danaelanda catch up slightly as they stay 2nd and now eight votes behind Aeroche. Quintessa climb 5-3, knocking Cor Lupus down a place to 4th on tiebreak. Séyetana recover to the top 5, up 8-5.

- Trifoski are going in the opposite direction to the main YTD, going back up a place to 6th here. Unovia climb 10-7 (they had the joint most votes in BJSC 106 with 31 in total, the same as Summericia who climb 48-33). Niceland are up 9-8, St. Burbia climb 11-9 to make the top 10 of this list for the first time this year and Jadakissnia return to it, up 13-10. The same two casualties from the top 10 as in the main YTD (FSR Rontvia 4-11, République d'Ashton 6-12) so the top 10 countries are now the same on both lists.

- République d'Ashton are finally unseated here, Niceland picked up an impressive 5 18s this time and climb 5-1, a full three top scores ahead of the pack. Ashton only fall a place to second despite their DNQ, but they are caught up by Rolloland who added one more 18 this time (but nonetheless fall 2-3). Cor Lupus stay 4th, getting one more 18 this month, while Quintessa drop 3-5 as they surprisingly didn't get any top scores this time around.

- St. Burbia climb a place to 6th with one additional 18, making them the seventh country of the year to get 10 18s. Land of DW drop a place to 7th and Jadakissnia climb 9-8. Cowtermont were the winners of most 18s this time, getting 6 of them (in fact no other country besides Cowtermont and Niceland even got more than 2 18s, including the winners Fljótavík who got only my 18 and Flynnonda's), which sees them shoot up 36-9. Ojnoj may have come bottom 3 in this contest but they have the consolation of finally getting one more 18, their first since Kim Petras, which allows them to hang onto 10th place here. FSR Rontvia's DNQ costs them their top 10 place in all three lists, dropping 8-13 here.

The same top 3 here but a smaller gap between the top 2, and a much bigger gap between 2nd and 3rd (Cowtermont benefiting from their many top scores). Niceland make it into the top 5 here and Dobago are in the top 10 instead of St. Burbia, with Oslol and Quintessa also both a couple of places higher.

Thank you for the update *.* Yay, Jadakissnia in the top 10 and passing 1000 points for the year :wub: hope I can keep this up for the rest of the year and not stall at 11 like last year. It's also really cool to have three songs in the top 50 and to climb in the voting and 18s lists.

obviously hoping to not destroy this momentum but I’m excited to see what happens next contest! Loving the additions of the new blood, seems like there are more countries that haven’t hit the top 10 finally getting their spotlight :)

On the flipside though, it's also still close enough that you can easily get right back up there with another big hit or two! As ever just qualifying in every contest is good enough to be near the top but there are 4 countries in the top 10 who've had a DNQ this year, and Ashton are still top 15 when they've had 2 of them.

I'm liking that we've had a good variety of leaders this year so far, three different countries have been on top of the main YTD already and the other lists haven't always just had the same leader (in fact all three lists right now have a different #1). Really feels like any of the current top 10 have a realistic shot at being the end of year #1.

BJSC 107 update

YTD by points

- Aeroche have outdone themselves from the last two years and actually made it to #1 in a YTD update before the very last one of the year! They're still yet to achieve their annual contest win but are well on the way to a sixth straight EOY victory, as a top 10 result in BJSC 107 sees them climb a place to #1 with a nice lead of 139 points over second place (they've only come higher than 9th in one contest this year but as ever consistency pays off). Unovia weren't even top 10 in the YTD two months ago but a second bronze medal on the trot makes them Aeroche's nearest rivals, pushing them up 6-2 on the YTD, just five points ahead of Cor Lupus who are up one place to 3rd. South Danaelanda drop a place to 4th, while Quintessa manage to remain in the top 5, falling 1-5 after their unfortunate DNQ this month.

- Jadakissnia continue to climb, up another 3 places to 6th, while St. Burbia rise a place to 7th and former leaders Trifoski are back up two to 8th. FARC are richly rewarded for a 2nd place finish in BJSC 107 as they climb 16-9 to return to their high point in the rankings so far this year, and they're the highest of 9 countries passing 1,000 points in the year to date. Another is FSR Rontvia, who return to the top 10, up 2 places to #10. They squeeze out Séyetana by just one point as they fall 7-11 despite a qualification this month, blame the closeness! Niceland are the other top 10 casualty, diving 5-15 after their DNQ.

- Other climbers and new entries in the YTD top 30 and/or the BJSC 107 top 10: République d'Ashton 15-14, Persephonia 17-16, Ojnoj 18-17, Fljótavík 19-18 with a top 10 finish in their home contest (all four passing the 1,000 points mark as do Cadelicia, Cowtermont and Land of DW), Bhangra 21-20, Summericia zooming up 33-21 with their first ever win and second top 5 in a row, Terra Avium 28-22, New Lexico 34-23 as they registered their first hit since their winner with a top 5 smash, Pupok 32-29, Aelandor 31-30, Espen 40-31 following their first top 5 hit of the year, Deandria 48-40 with a national record second top 10 hit in a year, Altyr Muunilinst 50-41 with amazingly only their first top 10 hit of the year so far, Utopia 59-48 as they continue a successful comeback with a top 10 hit.

Cor Lupus and South Danaelanda are equal on number of votes so, deferring to the main YTD for a tiebreak, Cor Lupus climb 4-2 and S DNLD drop one to 3rd. Trifoski and Unovia climb two places each to enter the top 5 in 4th and 5th.

- St. Burbia and Jadakissnia are both up three places to 6th and 7th. Séyetana slip 5-8, FSR Rontvia edge up 11-9, Quintessa remain top 10 despite their DNQ as they fall 3-10, and Niceland are the only top 10 dropouts as they fall 8-17. Summericia were the top vote winners for a second contest in a row and continue to climb quickly, up 33-23.

- Normal service on this list is resumed as République d'Ashton manage to sneak their way back up a place to 1st, as they picked up the 3 18s they needed to match Niceland again and be ahead on tiebreak. Niceland thus fall a place to 2nd. Rolloland hold in 3rd picking up one more maximum score, as do Cor Lupus who remain 4th, while another 2 18s for St. Burbia push them up a place to 5th.

- Jadakissnia also get 2 18s and rise 8-6. FARC enter the top 10, up 14-7 after picking up three 18s this time, and Ojnoj are back on the up with 3 more 18s this time seeing them rise 10-8. Aeroche continue to lag on this list compared to the others but 2 18s this time do see them finally crack the top 10 here, up 11-9. All 4 of these reach or pass the 10 18s mark, as do Cadelicia. - With such spread out scores leading to the lowest scoring winner of the year in the contest with the most votes, and one of the proportionally lowest scoring winners ever, it's no surprise that Cathedrals come in pretty low, only #33. Slightly more surprisingly that's actually lower than Summericia's previous 4th-placed entry and even beaten by a couple of songs that came 7th in their contests (and technically one that came 20th although that was obviously because of a deduction). Still, the top 6 from this contest all make the top 50 here.
