Posted February 14, 20187 yr Detective Pikachu is currently a game for Nintendo 3DS that has been out in Japan for a couple of years now. Next month it gets its worldwide release on the console platform. The game itself differs as it's the first to include Pikachu in an actual talking role solving mysteries. Now, due to its success, a live action adaptation of the game as been announced by Universal Pictures. Ryan Reynolds will be the voice of Pikachu with Justice Smith, Kathryn Newton, Ken Watanabe, Bill Nighy, Chris Geere, Suki Waterhouse and Rita Ora confirmed as part of the cast. The film is being directed by Rob Letterman (Shark Tale, Monsters vs Aliens, Gulliver's Travels) and filming started in London last month. Colour me intrigued *.* Edited February 14, 20187 yr by lewistgreen
November 12, 20186 yr 1roy4o4tqQM This actually looks brilliant! Love the designs, and it's hyping me up for the new Pokemon games so much.
November 12, 20186 yr So it's basically Deadpool with pokemon? I'm more interested than I really ought to be!
November 12, 20186 yr Well this looks a rather bizarrely meta pathway for Pokemon to go! I'm very interested though, it was always quite the staple on my younger years and I'm still partial to it now.
November 13, 20186 yr Really looking forward to this, live action Pokémon were always going to look a bit weird at first considering how they’ve looked over the years but I think they have done a great job with the models. I’m also loving how it’s just set in a Pokémon world as opposed to being in the real world with a Pikachu that somehow managed to “escape” the game. There’s something about seeing Pokémon walking around the street and chilling with people that satisfies the 7 year old within me who dreamt of having his own Pokémon irl
November 13, 20186 yr I honestly think it looks fantastic. A fantastic Pokemon movie trailer along with a Pokemon game. I'm hyped.
November 13, 20186 yr This looks horrible! I'm creeped out by it and who is the audience meant to be???
November 13, 20186 yr who is the audience meant to be??? I was thinking this too. No idea what the demo is but I think the trailer looks great!
November 13, 20186 yr I'm getting "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" vibes from this ie. taking a well worn genre (film noir in WFRR's case, detective drama in DP), then populating it with fictitious character (cartoons/Pokémon). I can see it getting the similar kind of audience - the kids will love the Pokémon, the grown-ups will appreciate the genre's conventions, whilst simultaneously having nostalgia for the characters they remember from their childhood. The trailer's really sold me on the film, genuinely excited for this, which was something that I wasn't expecting.
November 13, 20186 yr This looks absolutely crazy, I'm so in. The Psyduck looks like Howard the Duck and the freckles/little hairs on the Mr Mime are horrifying. Edited November 13, 20186 yr by LewisGT
