One of THE best TV moments of 2020. Absolutely incredible and Donald is surely the greatest Millionaire player of all time? He breezed through them and he didn't even use 3 of the lifelines? INSANE. :o

  • They can now set their safety net at any after the £1,000 question.

That is some cosmic stuff. The £500k question was a politics one (he's a politics teacher), and the million pound question was on a subject he taught 8 years ago.

I knew the £500K question before the options came up (as, of course, did he).

The best contestant Who Wants To Be A Millionaire have had?

He actually took a lot of the tension out of it himself with his regular "I know this" response. When the final question came up, the look on his face made it clear he knew the answer.

Very impressive from Donald to win the million having used only one lifeline and he already kind of worked out the answer to his 50/50 question. It's just a shame that there was no other outcome possible due to hints from ITV and also there no being enough time for anyone else to play on the last episode of the series. Also a shame that there was no audience in the studio.

Shamefully (given my interest in the subject) I would've gone for John Major as I knew he was chancellor & assumed he'd done the other two at some point under Thatcher, although Callaghan would've been my 2nd guess. Must try harder.

I knew it was Callaghan

Donald was brilliant! But it was kind of very suited to him he was lucky that the questions just fell into his area of expertise and were stuff he’d taught or had obvious keen interests in.

I mean if I was on there and I somehow managed to get questions on the UK charts, popular culture and travel geography id get far too (we’ll maybe not £1 million far but he did have an advantage) We’ll never know what would’ve happened if his questions were different as all of his questions (for me) were more stuff someone of his age would know he was lucky he didn’t get things on the current UK charts or something on celeb gossip  But it was a real moment.

Was Donald the final contestant to be filmed for this series or is the series not necessarily filmed in order? I had a hunch all week that they’d not show the millionaire until the last show.

True, it didn't really have that tension compared to others.

Accusations of it being a fix on Twitter and other forums as it was time for a winner. No celebrity trivia, film or music questions but I think he was just lucky with the questions as he knew the answers. Nice that he said he'll see his current set of A level students through their exams too.

When you think, a million's not worth as much as it was when it started in 1995. Should the top prize now be £2 million?

Yes, popular pub quiz question too apparently.

Yeh I knew it was Callaghan too!

Wasn’t great at any of those jobs though lol. The Liveral leader in the 30s Simons was all of them but PM I think too!

Major was PM, Foreign and Chancellor.

He was a quick rider as considering how influential he was he only entered the commons in 79 and left in 97 I think after his defeat in the eldction!

Major was only Foreign Secretary for three months and Chancellor for two months but was Chief Secretary To The Treasury for 2 years. His only budget was the first to be televised live.

There were suggestions when Judith Keppel won that the questions were deliberately chosen to play to her strengths.

JOhn Major left the Commons in 2001, not 1997. He sat on the backbenches in the 1997-2001 parliament. He was Chancellor for almost a year, not two months.

Yes 13 months actually, Oct. 1989 to Nov. 1990. Sorry my mistake.

Yeh forgot Major obviously won his seat as sitting PM in 97. Be interesting to see how many times he was in the Commons between 97-2001 though!
