Hopefully she makes the main ARIA charts - I think ‘Girl’ went Top 5 too on the Aussie ARIA chart but missed the main chart?

Hurrah! Too bad it likely won't reach the top 40 in the UK, but a new peak in Australia makes up for it!

Neon Nights 20 new Australia official charts debut

Top 50 album - 17# (new chart peak as before it’s peak was 25#)

Top Australian albums - 3#

Top vinyl charts 4#

Top dance albums 1#

Oh #17 in Australia! I wasn’t expecting that at all!

Thank you for this info! :cheer:

I can’t help but feel the need to point out that the # symbol (which means “number” in this context) goes in front of numbers, not behind them. Putting it behind makes it read as “seventeen number”, “three number” etc. #17 = number seventeen)

Strange as in Australia her music normally goes no where, and it goes higher in the UK.

This is an amazing result, and while I secretly wanted top 10, I have to remember this is an old album. So it’s amazing!!!! I hope it can stick around longer and possibly hit Gold status.

Here is to Neon Nights becoming a Top 20 hit album in Australia.

How many sales will that be roughly?
I think the album signing done her wonders in Australia - I’d say from the pictures of the queue there were a minimum of 350+ there and lots of people seemed to buy multiple copies to get signed.

Thrilled to see 'Neon Nights' in the Top 20 in Australia! :cheer: That makes it her highest charting album there now that it's overtaken the #24 peak of her debut.

Chart run: 25-31-31-X-25-38-43-X-17

I wonder if it’s the case that compared to the UK, it’s relatively easier to chart higher in the Australian albums chart if your release is largely driven by multiple physical formats?

It is annoying in the UK that releases like Neon Nights 20 end up behind numerous old Greatest Hits & old albums which get similar streaming sales every single week. -_-

This is from 2016 but…

Back in April we reported on the saddest album sales week in Aussie chart history after US metal veterans Disturbed broke the record for lowest selling album ever to go Number 1 in Australia by moving just 2,140 copies of their album Immortalized.

Disturbed broke the record previously set by fellow heavy outfit Bring Me The Horizon, who made it to Number 1 by selling just 3,600 units back in 2010, which was at the time a cause for concern for anybody working in the recording industry.

But it seems it’s all just par for the course nowadays, with CD sales declining ever steeply and even digital sales becoming cannibalised by streaming, which has struck a contentious relationship with both record labels and the artistic community.

As Tone Deaf reported last year, among the biggest sellers to hit No. 1 in 2015 were Taylor Swift, with 19,246 copies of 1989, Florence & the Machine (15,706), Muse (12,047), Tame Impala (11,415), Mumford & Sons (11,038), Parkway Drive (14,700), and Hermitude (10,352).

That's a much more solid chart run than I imagined!

I thought it'd have been like a 25-57-out kind of thing.
