I think the last time a Eurovision song became a hit outside of the Eurovision buzz was XTM & DJ Chucky presents Annia's cover of "Fly On The Wings Of Love" - does anybody know of anything more recent?

 

"Fuego" I think has huge potential if pushed; I feel that only really "Euphoria" otherwise this decade has had this kind of potential.

'If I Were Sorry' by Frans was a decent enough sized hit.

If I Were Sorry had the potential to be huge without the Eurovision tag. It did reasonably well on Spotify, and charted top 200 several weeks before Eurovision!

That peak position was Eurovision week though - I'm talking a proper sized hit after Eurovision.

I’d say 11 weeks top 75 for Euphoria was impressive seeing as the only buzz it had was its initial performance. I don’t recall it getting much airplay, certainly not from the major stations.

 

I can’t see that ever happening again unless hell freezes over and Hot Hits UK adds a Eurovision song...

wasn't Frans on Hot Hits UK or an equivalent though prior to Eurovision, just that his streams weren't big enough to get him top 100 before the performance? odd that they did but I seem to remember it happening.

 

Spotify likely won't be adding any Eurovision songs from this year to Hot Hits though.

I think Frans was lingering in the 70s/80s on the Spotify chart pre-performance, and in the current chart climate and with ACR, he'd likely have actually made the top 100 before Eurovision. I do think it was on some sort of playlist (perhaps Today's Top Hits) which helped it!

Iirc, Capital actually played 'Euphoria', but I don't think it was extensively ofc. It was def just a "this is high on iTunes, we need to play it" sort of aituation haha.

Apple Music has passed 50 million subscribers this month, CEO Tim Cook has revealed. However, the figure includes 8m users on free trials. Paid subscribers increased by 2m compared to a month earlier, which maintains the steady monthly growth rate in users for Apple’s music streaming service in 2018.

 

While Apple Music lags behind Spotify, it is increasing its subscriber base at a faster rate. During its recent Q1 results, Spotify revealed it had finished Q1 with 75m premium subscribers – up 4m over three months since the end of 2017. Apple Music has added 2m users a month this year and was reportedly on the verge of overtaking the Swedish rival in the US.
