Oh yeah I watched the final at the eurovision village as well so I don't know how she was live in the arena

I think Denmark was the biggest surprise to me, I expected Italy top 10 if not top 5 (I love the song but madness that it got more than Occidentali's Karma which was such a hot favourite for AGES until APD took over), but Denmark felt a bit flat. Solid enough but a bit flat in terms of the epic moment it wanted to be. I think a song like that done "properly" (I know top 10 is still really good and must have come across well in some way to large amounts of people), coming across as an epic moment to the juries and public, could have won. But to me it just felt like 50% of the way there, like a first demo of the song before it gets to the epic version

I think most likely for Australia and Finland, I agree it was being next to each other, and the same half as Fuego and Toy, which were female uptempos and of course were the two huge contenders. Most people who loved We Got Love and Monsters are gonna love Fuego at least, if not Toy as well, and ofc they were staged and performed better so naturally if people are gonna only vote for one or two (I assume most people would) then it'd be Fuego or Toy. I can imagine We Got Love like 11-15 or so on a fair few televotes but obviously in terms of points that's no different than being last

Finally had a read through this thread, do y'all want to be a little more savage about Salvador's return :kink: I enjoyed his interval performance although I would have much preferred if he just sang 'Amar Pelos Dois' himself, the guy he was duetting with did not impress me. At least it just made Salvador sound even better. Say what you want about the guy's opinions but he's a great performer, 'Amar Pelos Dois' is one of my favourite winners of recent years (only behind '1944'), his new song sounded really lovely as well. Someone has to say something positive about it even if 2 days late xx The rest of the interval stuff though... was a choice ~

The reveal this year was amazingly tense, they must have mixed up the jury reveal order to purposefully keep it as close as possible the whole time! (wtf at Austria doing so well with the juries though, one of the most nothingy songs)

Did y'all see the antisemitism, or at least anti-Israel comments, against Israel winning, even though they've won TWICE before?? I guess 2018 and the Internet conspiracy theories are to blame  I couldn't believe it. It's a SONG (not singing, youtubers) contest, not a country contest.

Then there were the British people demanding we pull out. Umm the woman we sent was screeching and waving her arms. It wasn't good, and the left wing media commentator was the only good bit. I wonder if he's been reading my BJ posts, as I LITERALLY have been saying war is peace regarding the BBTory for the past couple of weeks now kink.gif

I'm sorry, but there was NOTHING good about that "man" whatsoever. He assaulted a woman on live TV in front of 500 million people, leaving her with bruising, and ruined what should have been the greatest moment of her professional career for the purposes of forwarding his shi**ly discourse. He is an absolute c***w*mble, and anyone who even thinks he's even slightly redeemable for what he did should be ashamed of himself.

Also, I am not a fan of tarring everyone with the same brush or making assumptions based on someone's politics, but given that the protester is allegedly a massive Corbynista, I am going to assume that he is not a big fan of Israel and/or Jews.

That's a Tory media smear against Corbyn.

Leaving her with bruising?? All he did was grab the mic

He did the right thing to highlight our awful media

Michael, please don’t condone that behaviour. Whatever your message, that is the complete wrong way to go about it. He tried to ruin the biggest moment of someone’s life, someone who has no say etc in the message he was trying to put across, someone who has yet to have that solo spotlight in their career. He forcibly grabbed the mic off her, wearing a backpack as well which in this day and age of course suggests something completely different, particularly at a massive scale event.

He’s an absolute delusional cockhead.

I hope the BBC internally selects Surie next year and sends a call out to songwriters to get her a decent song. She has been a great ambassador for the UK and to have her moment ruined like that- she was probably terrfied, the guy could have had a knife in his backpack for all she knew.

I could actually get behind this to be honest, just out of a sense of fair play!

There's a petition urging the BBC to do exactly that.

Very well said and to which i fully agree.

Well he did leave her with bruising and regardless, just his presence on the stage must have been absolutely terrifying for SuRie. There is a right way and a wrong way to protest. And that individual totally went about it in probably the worst way to do so.

And as a general announcement for everyone, any more talk of a political nature in this thread will be deleted.

Signed! I agree very much with that aim. Let's find her a decent song she can sing the hell out of

I love from that article that her thought process was "oh there's the microphone on the floor....best pick that up and get on with things eh!"

Such a professional. She really did the country proud

Yes, that would be amazing for SuRie. She is a true talent and could do well with a better song!

that doesnt make any sense, she had the opportunity to repeat the performance, she refused.

Next....?

Admin here, global mod last year. What are you talking about? You posted for the first time since 2014 a few days ago and I have never had a problem with the current Eurovision mods. We do not accept outdated offensive sexist views on Buzzjack and I fully support the action Adam has taken.

I dont mean the post that you think its offensive, I mean the posts afterwards between me and Liam, where are they?

To be honest never in my life I thought to see someone being offended with two words (feminism, cancer), I dont know how to explain it.

that doesnt make any sense, she had the opportunity to repeat the performance, she refused.

Next....?

It does make sense? What has the opportunity to repeat this year’s performance got to do with competing with a different song next year?

SuRie and her team were very happy with how she performed, so why perform again? :P

"The guy", he was Caetano Veloso, one of the biggest stars in Portuguese world :D Winner of nine Latin Grammys. The Tony Bennett of Brazil.

Fuego is the biggest track on iTunes in the world, selling almost double than Toy :o

While I wish that were true, Netta has two versions on the iTunes worldwide chart at No. 26 and No. 29 which if combined outsell Fuego by a bit.

Combined Netta = No. 5

Fuego = No. 11

(If we look at European songs only Netta is #1 combined and Eleni is #3)

Still amazing for both of them and just Eurovision songs in general!
