07. What Do I Have to Do? // 8.85 (6: Nick F1, Jade, 6.5: Liam, Theo // 11: Feel the Fever, 10: SamJudd, Red Blooded Man, Monzo, gooddelta, davidas, Stuart25, Tawdry Hepburn, pippa, Michael Andrew, Hide&Seek)

Kylie's exploration of dance music with Rhythm of Love saw her give the sounds of the club a pop makeover, especially notable in 'What Do I Have to Do' and its eurodance influence. The piano line and ascending rushes of synth inspire an irresistible energy that draws you to the dancefloor. It's said to be Kylie's favourite song to perform and it's easy to see why! Accompanying the song was a glamorous video that sees Kylie pose as Hollywood superstars and stars a blink-and-you'll-miss-it cameo from sister Dannii.

I was aghast when this was released - I was there for the bubblegum pop, I listen to it now but certainly doesn’t rank high for me in Kylie’s history.

I loved what do i have to do from the first time i hard it and i still love it as much now, a complete Kylie classic for me.

So you essentially didn't like it because she was trying to evolve and develop herself?

100% - for me at the time she moved quicker than her audience allowed her to as her commercial success showed. Her fan base wanted something different to what she was delivering.

I do see the point to be fair, at the time it was a huge change and her fans didnt expect it, I loved the songs and I remember people seeing kylie in such a different light but I also remember others hating her new image.
That sounds utterly ridiculous to me, I'm sorry.

Why? As a pre teen at the time (Which the majority of Kylie’s fan base was back then) we had an expectation of what she would deliver and what we wanted from her - at that age I didn’t really care about her artistic development or need to evolve like I did in later years.

Whilst it was an important turning point for Kylie (Just like IP was) at the time it was far too big of a change for her fan base and GP hence why it was considerably less successful.

The change was big at the time but it felt natural too as Kylie was maturing at that time.

What Do I Have To Do, is wonderful and looking back it touched on a sound that Kylie would later have huge success with.

06. In Your Eyes // 8.96 (6: pippa; 6.5: Liam // 11: Nick F1, liamk97; 10: SamJudd, Red Blooded Man, Monzo, blacksquare, Qween, Nick Jonas, Tawdry Hepburn, Jay, Michael Andrew, Davidson, Theo)

Following the slick, simple, synth sounds of 'Can't Get You Out of My Head', Kylie followed with something harder-edged. The aggressive beat of 'In Your Eyes' vigorously thumps throughout the track as Kylie indulges in feelings of lust and desire; the addictive production is almost hypnotising in its intensity and perfectly captures the passion of the lyrical content. Its climaxing moments are enhanced by Kylie's vocoder ad libs that slide over the trippy techno. The release was held back a month to accommodate for the enduring success of its predecessor; whilst it still seemed overshadowed, 'In Your Eyes' was a big hit, particularly on UK radio where it spent five weeks at #1, and indeed the world is still spinning around to it.

In title order, these songs have made the Top 5:

All the Lovers

Better the Devil You Know

Love at First Sight

On a Night Like This

The One

In your eyes way to high for me,I like the song, was a bug fan when ut was released but now after a few years it's my least liked of the fever singles.

'In Your Eyes' is my favourite single so I'm thrilled to see it this high! I genuinely didn't realise it was so well loved. I can't quite put my finger on why this appeals to me so much; it just connects spiritually, like the production just takes over my mind and body and takes me to a place of euphoria! The video and song work together so well, almost like the video looks how the song sounds - in fact I could say that about all the Fever videos.
I love this, in fact I would choose this over all the “fever” singles. Not so keen on all the screen effects on the video but overall I love it

'In Your Eyes' is top 3 for me, and definitely my favourite Fever single.

I love how it has flourishes of the funky house sound that was reminiscent of 2002, but it still sounds so cool and slick.

It's a solid song but I always felt love at first sight should have been the 2nd single and in your eyes third. Is the world still spinning around was a great line in the song I have to say.

In Your Eyes polling higher than What I Have To Do is a big surprise and a disappointing surprise.

That is not to say, In Your Eyes is not a good single as it was, but much inferior to What Do I Have To Do.

Love LOVE LOVE, 'In Your Eyes', a firm Kylie classic which came at the absolute peak of her career and of course was the perfect choice to follow the massive 'CGYOOMH', and to be honest, nothing was gonna top that hype and doesn't if it was this or even 'LAFS' (which somebody said in a previous post should have been the 2nd single). What I'm saying is that yeah if you look at it, then this did get overshadowed a bit, but to me it didn't feel like that at the time, because this was pretty much everywhere (radio, TV, etc..), and think that this has held up pretty well considering and still fondly remembered to this day, and why not its still a cracking tune.

'What Do I Have To Do' is again another banging tune that always seems to do well in these rates, and think its #7 ranking on here is very decent and probably about right.

A very strong top 5 left, here's my predictions =

1. Better The Devil You Know
2. Love At First Sight
3. All The Lovers
4. On A Night Like This
5. The One
