June 3, 20187 yr Author For me, I think it will be Colombia winning this group with Poland sneaking in second.
June 4, 20187 yr Simulated Results: POL 1:2 SEN COL 1:1 JPN JPN 2:1 SEN POL 1:0 COL JPN 0:0 POL SEN 0:2 COL Japan [2-0-1] [5pts.] [3-2] Colombia [1-1-1] [4pts.] [3-2] Poland [1-1-1] [4pts.] [2-2] Senegal [1-2-0] [3pts.] [3-5]
June 4, 20187 yr Close group indeed if that's how it plays out. You really could make a good case for any of these teams progressing.
June 4, 20187 yr Yes, this is arguably going to be the most enjoyable group to watch. All four of these teams can score. Unlike Iran and South Korea, Japan always bring a lot of offensive firepower to the table from Asia. Poland, well we know what they can do with Lewandowski. Colombia and James "don't call me the English sounding form of James" Rodriguez and his running mates. And Senegal have one of the most powerful offenses in all of Africa, led by a man y'all should know well in the Premiere League with Sadio Mane.
June 5, 20187 yr I'd like to see at least one of Senegal or Japan make it into the second round - could very well happen.
June 15, 20187 yr I remember Japan were good in the group stages in 2010 but then were very disappointing in the knockout round against Paraguay.
June 18, 20187 yr Author In 2014, Colombia beat Japan 4-1 in the last group match. I can see it being a close win for Colombia over Japan.
June 18, 20187 yr Author The final match before the World Cup goes full circle, a strong Poland will take on a young, upcoming Senegal team completing in their 2nd World Cup first since 2002. How do we see going?
June 19, 20187 yr Author The first red card of the tournament goes to Colombia's Carlos Sanchez with a handball inside 3 minutes. 1-0 to Japan.
June 19, 20187 yr Could not have asked for a better start *.* The charge that led to the penalty was looking good for Japan too, have people been perhaps underrating them?
June 19, 20187 yr Perhaps, but there's no doubt this is the most open group of all of them and wouldn't be surprised by any order come the end of June, other than Colombia in last I suppose.
June 19, 20187 yr You just have to in those situations, surely. In case. I'm more than a little mad that the free kick was given in the first place what with Falcao's diving performance (which he's still doing!). Colombia are playing this really ugly. But Japan have fallen back a bit in quality in the last few minutes, they should be making a little more of what they have.
June 19, 20187 yr Why is the Japan goalkeeper protesting about it was clearly over the line. Thankfully, goal-line technology seems largely to have eliminated those protests.
June 19, 20187 yr Yeh but Japan have come into it a lot in the second half, the Columbians look tired!
June 19, 20187 yr I may be slightly biased, but Japan have been inspired in their attack in the second half, have deserved to be leading for about 20 minutes now, so great they're up now.
June 19, 20187 yr Great performance from Japan, after they led for the second time, they held the ball in a calm, measured manner. It's their first time win against any national teams from South America. It will give them a nice boost in confidence. I think the Colombian coach should take some blame for the wrong substitution he made in the first half.
