He's released the colour version of the "Vertical Video" he did for Spotify, to his official VEVO account, so I assume this is the single that will officially follow 'In My Blood'.

Great choice!

Doesn't feel like this is going to take off, been a few weeks since the video now and it's doing nothing on iTunes/Spotify

This era feels like it's losing steam commercially, though Shawn's actual clout as a "star" seems to be on the rise

It's barely had a chance yet, I don't think we can write it off as Radio 1 aren't on board yet...

That's what concerns me though. It's been 3/4 weeks now, if they were going to add it you'd have thought they'd have already done so

I would be VERY surprised if Radio 1 didn't support Nervous, they've heavily supported all of his singles since Stitches, and In My Blood wasn't a flop or anything that would ring alarm bells for them!

Post album he struggles

Stitches was post album and didn't struggle one bit, and Mercy impacted after the album and became a solid hit too. He's barely given post-album singles a chance to be able to make that judgement but the evidence suggests otherwise!

That doesn't change the fact it's post-album

Really it does though.

It was his breakthrough - most people wouldn't have known he existed or had an album out.

what i find confusing is that instead of adding nervous to hot hts, they have added the duet with julia michaels instead,

makes no sense if nervous is the 2nd single

so right now hothits has the song with julia and the one with khalid but not nervous

That's a matter of perspective and I agree with you, but it doesn't change the fundamental definition :P

His only real problem with post album singles so far seems to be how he mostly avoids them

I feel like this era was meant to turn Shawn into a superstar but it’s just not happening. ‘In My Blood’ peaked high but dropped off really quickly and I don’t even know wtf happened with this  Bop tbh, a shame. I can see there being no more singles :/
I agree that this era hasn't quite taken off the way I'd hoped but In My Blood had pretty good longevity! It spent 13 weeks top 40 before ACR hit it, 9 of them were in the top 20 which is quite good going (even if I'd hoped for a few more top 10 weeks!). I'm not even convinced Nervous was a single in the end, despite the music video and brief Capital support. I don't believe Radio 1 would snub him either - In My Blood did well enough, the album is his biggest yet AND he performed at the Biggest Weekend. It's also not been pushed to US radio as far as I know, so I'm not really sure what went down but I'm quite sure Nervous either wasn't pushed as anything more than a promo single, or got pulled for whatever reason. It's a shame though and I don't think it's helped his momentum, but I think perhaps another single (Youth or Like To Be You could be good picks) would still stand a shot of doing well.

Nervous has had decent radio support in Aus but for some reason up until a couple of weeks ago Like To Be You was still on a few Spotify playlists instead of Nervous...

I think Youth has the potential to be huge, with lots of promo to help. Khalid has just got a #1 in the UK and he’s close in Australia (plus Eastside will be big in the US I’m sure) so if this got a big push I can see it going Top 20 at least. It did really well as a promo single/album track

I think the problem has been not having a clear 2nd single in all fronts, if Nervous is single 2 proper, then you have to add it to spotify lists, you cannot go and add the song with julia michaels instead, thats confusing

and same with Youth, this was clearly popular but needed a proper push

I feel like next era will be the era this should've been in all honesty. I adore this era, but I feel like he's still that one song away from catapulting into the bigger pop leagues tbh. I wish it was 'In My Blood', but we can't have everything lmao.
