June 29, 20188 yr It can't be mainly downloads for sure- James Arthur being Top 20 is odd indeed, and No Roots only peaked at around #35 on it when it went Top 20 on iTunes. They do say streams count as well, but These Days had a 9 week run at #1 on it while Drake had his on OCC? There's definitely some weird anomalies but if you compare the chart with the sales, streams and airplay charts it is closest to the sales chart. Of course historically the top 10 was just based on iTunes sales. And I suspect they keep it more closely linked to downloads to keep it fresher, and ensures the songs in the chart are more closely aligned with what commercial radio plays (compared to the hip hop songs that do well on streaming?) I don't think airplay can be weighted more than sales - Ariana Grande is #1 on the Commercial Airplay Chart and only #13 on BT40. Liam Payne's "Familiar" is #2 on Airplay and only #9 on BT40. "For You" is still #9 yet only #40 on BT40.
