As awful a """"song"""" it is, the rules are ridiculous :lol: A song could be from 1932 but if it sells/streams the most it should be #1 surely??? It's not like situations like this happen as #1s very often, especially in the streaming era, so like this and potentially a Christmas song isn't going to break the chart by getting a week or two.

Agreed - it is pathetic

The OCC could potentially really shoot themselves in the foot with this move too. Imagine the free publicity the official chart would get if Three Lions returned to #1 or Mariah finally got the Christmas number one. Three Lions climbing to #3 when it would've been #1 because of ACR is not a news story.

 

I get that they want less Christmas songs in the chart and have to apply the rule to all old songs to be fair, but I still disagree with the rule.

 

I also think the current form of the artist cap is silly too. 'Emotionless' is going to fall from #5 straight out the top 100 because 'In My Feelings' is now out-selling it.

i think if england wins today, it could be #1 overall, even on acr, just cos the cazillion of downloads it will get + it's also #1 on YT I think
