Biography

Cardi B

Belcalis Marlenis Almanzar, known professionally as Cardi B, is an American rapper. Born and raised in The Bronx, New York City, she first attracted attention for discussing her career as a stripper on social media; coupled with her "no filter attitude", she became an Internet celebrity through Instagram. From 2015 to 2017, she appeared as a regular cast member on the VH1 reality television series Love & Hip Hop: New York, and released two mixtapes.

Since signing with Atlantic Records in 2017, she has earned two number-one singles on the US Billboard Hot 100 with "Bodak Yellow" and "I Like It". The former made her the second-ever female rapper to top the chart with a solo output, following Lauryn Hill in 1998; the latter made her the first female rapper to attain multiple number-one songs on the chart. Her debut studio album Invasion of Privacy (2018), on which both songs were included, reached number one on the Billboard 200. Time named the rapper one of the 100 most influential people in the world on their annual list in 2018. - Wikipedia

Bad Bunny

Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio (born March 10, 1994), known by his stage name Bad Bunny, is a Puerto Rican Latin trap singer. While working in a supermarket as a bagger and studying at University of Puerto Rico at Arecibo, Bad Bunny gained popularity on SoundCloud. His breakthrough single, "Soy Peor", established him as a forerunner in the Latin American trap scene. He has earned multiple top-ten entries on the US Hot Latin Songs chart. He collaborated with J Balvin and Prince Royce for the hit single "Sensualidad", and with Cardi B and Balvin on the Billboard Hot 100 number-one single "I Like It". - Wikipedia

J Balvin

José Álvaro Osorio Balvin (born May 7, 1985), known professionally as J Balvin, is a Colombian reggaeton singer. Balvin was born in Medellín, Colombia. At age 17, he moved to the United States. He moved to Oklahoma and New York to learn English and was influenced by the music he heard there. He then returned to Medellín and gained popularity performing at clubs in the city.

His breakthrough came in 2014 with the single "6 AM" featuring Puerto Rican singer Farruko which peaked at number 2 on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart. The song, along with the single "Ay Vamos", bolstered sales of his album La Familia (2014). In 2016, he released Energia, which included the hit singles "Ginza", "Bobo", "Safari", and "Sigo Extranandote". In June 2017, J Balvin released the single "Mi Gente" featuring Willy William. On 1 August 2017, "Mi Gente" topped the Global Top 50 on Spotify, and later reached one billion views on YouTube. The song, and its remix featuring American artist Beyoncé, helped J Balvin achieve international fame. In January 2018, he released the hit single "Machika" featuring Jeon and Anitta. He collaborated with Cardi B and Bad Bunny on the US Billboard Hot 100 number-one single "I Like It".

Though his music is primarily reggaeton, J Balvin has experimented with a variety of musical genres in his work, including electronica, house music, trap, and R&B. His original musical inspirations were rock groups such as Metallica and Nirvana. He has collaborated with artists such as Pharrell Williams, Major Lazer, and Sean Paul. Despite working with many English-speaking artists, J Balvin continues to sing almost exclusively in Spanish, and hopes to introduce Spanish-language music to a global audience. He is also noted for his eclectic and colorful fashion sense. - Wikipedia

I am told R1 did play 'American Idiot' *.* wasn't sure if they would given their previous aversion to politically motivated campaigns in the chart show.

Now just keeping my fingers crossed for 'Three Lions' to be #1 :D

I Like It still in Top 10  Thought it was gonna have a shorter run than this!
Really surprised this was a Billboard #1.

Really? I'm not remotely surprised! Cardi is one of the biggest names on the planet at the moment (notably in the US) while this fuses hip-hop and latin, two of the most popular styles of music atm!

Biography

Maroon 5 is an American pop rock band from Los Angeles, California. It currently consists of lead vocalist Adam Levine, keyboardist and rhythm guitarist Jesse Carmichael, bassist Mickey Madden, lead guitarist James Valentine, drummer Matt Flynn, keyboardist PJ Morton and multi-instrumentalist Sam Farrar. Original members Levine, Carmichael, Madden and drummer Ryan Dusick first came together as Kara's Flowers in 1994, while they were still in high school. After self-releasing their debut album We Like Digging?, the band signed to Reprise Records and released the album The Fourth World in 1997. The album garnered a tepid response, after which the record label dropped the band and the members focused on college.

In 2001, the band remerged as Maroon 5, pursuing a different direction and adding guitarist Valentine. The band signed with a subsidiary of J Records, Octone Records, and released their debut album Songs About Jane in June 2002. Aided by its lead single "Harder to Breathe", which received heavy airplay, the album debuted at number six on the Billboard 200 chart, and went platinum in 2004. The band won the Grammy Award for Best New Artist in 2005.

Maroon 5's second album, It Won't Be Soon Before Long was released in 2007. It reached number one on the US Billboard 200 chart and the lead single, "Makes Me Wonder", became the band's first number one single on the Billboard Hot 100. In 2010, the band released their third studio album Hands All Over, to mixed reviews, re-releasing it in 2011 to include the single "Moves like Jagger", which topped the Billboard Hot 100. In 2012, the band released their fourth album, Overexposed, which spawned four successful singles, with the second single, "One More Night", topping the Billboard Hot 100 chart for nine consecutive weeks.

In 2014, the band signed with Interscope Records and released their fifth studio album, V, which reached number one on the Billboard 200 chart, as well as the sixth studio album Red Pill Blues in 2017. With the addition in the band's line-up which includes PJ Mortion on keyboardist and Sam Farrar on multiple instruments in 2012 and 2016, making the band as seven official members. Maroon 5 has sold more than 75 million records, making them one of the world's best-selling music artists. - Wikipedia

All true but I am surprised she just swarmed in, picked up a #1 before Nicki and then goes and gets another

Absolute TRASH is what this Maroon song is...
