Biography

Croyden, South London-based R&B singer Rachel Keen (aka RAYE) started her career at the age of ten, guided by her father and her guitar teacher. Her interest in music quickly led to small charity gigs and bouts of singing at her local church. By 2012, RAYE had enrolled in the prestigious BRIT school for music and singing, spending two years perfecting her craft, but she left in 2014 due to the limitations she was being taught and the desire to create her own rules. The following year, RAYE released her debut EP, Welcome to the Winter. The lead single, "Hotbox," was noticed by Olly Alexander (Years & Years) on Hype Machine; he got in touch with RAYE to discuss music, and arranged a meeting with the A&R department at Polydor. With major-label backing, RAYE kept busy in 2016, including co-writing her single "I, U, US" alongside Charli XCX, appearing as a guest vocalist on Jonas Blue's "By Your Side" single, and releasing the SECOND EP. She was back working with Charli XCX the following year, guesting on the singer's tracks "Girls" and "Dreamer." RAYE also delivered her own single, "The Line." - iTunes

Biography

Today NHS Voices release 'With A Little Help From My Friends', a charity single that brings together superstar singers and healthcare heroes to mark the 70th birthday of the NHS.

A team of NHS staff organised the release featuring the Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Choir which is made up of children’s doctors, physiotherapists, IT experts, midwives and more. They recorded the track at the legendary Abbey Road Studios alongside an incredible line up of musical talent.

Seal, Guy Garvey, Myleene Klass, Nile Rodgers, Louisa, Danny Jones, Beverley Knight, Engelbert Humperdinck, Reef, HRVY, Marina and the Diamonds, Una Healy, Alexandra Burke, Rick Astley, Squeeze, Gabrielle, Tom Smith from Editors, Tony Hadley and UB40 are just a few of the amazing names who have generously given their time and energy to help sing on this incredible NHS milestone. At the helm have been Brit Award-winning, Grammy nominated producer Jon Cohen and US superstar Timbaland creating a cover of the classic Beatles song. - Press Party

shame they couldn't drum up the publicity to get good sales, the song itself is awful (well, this version of it) but it's for the NHS.

Shame With A Little Help From My Friends didn't do as well as it should have although I don't think anyone (other than the NHS) was expecting it to be a #1

I'm all for 3 Lions been #1, it will look weird 1341 George Ezra, 740 Baddiel & Skinner and The Lightning Seeds, 1342 ?????

The numbers represent, how many number 1 singles that have been

Panic Room needs to smash. Not surprised by NHS flopping, everything that could've gone wrong went wrong (no Spotify promo or playlist adds, no younger and more popular acts featured on it, not many watched the TV special).
