July 23, 20186 yr Author 25/54 Persephonia Good evening from Carellis, thanks to Land of DW for another great first time hosting job, let's get to the Persephonian votes for the final of BJSC 106 ~ Our top points this time go with relative ease to the utterly glorious classical/electronic piece from Fljótavík! As with Deandria a couple of contests back we were surprised to find that the big FLJ have actually never received our top marks in the final before, their previous best being 2nd place with Halls (BJSC 47), Space Above (BJSC 75) and Kenton Slash Demon (BJSC 82) so this is a much overdue 18 for a nation who are consistently great when not sourcing their entries from Radio 2 :D 15 points to Terra Avium (the fourth time we've given them 15 since they last topped our votes ;o), a beautiful and spacey multicultural synthpop tune with a fab video and of course a much appreciated Persephonia recycle, here's to KOM_I and co doing a lot better this time ~ our top 3 is then completed by Aelandor who continue fighting to be our favourite country of the year with another bit of awesome heavy and distorty rock, and from another Nine Inch Nails-adjacent act (coincidence?) Our hosts Land of DW get 12 points from us for the second time in a row, very glad that this song has escaped the obscurity of CD Swap as it is a total banger. Speaking of total bangers, 11 points go Dobago's way with the new and improved version of deadmau5's 'Strobe', while Cowtermont continue their run of great entries and get 10 more points from us with their choral-y trance tune. A much more chill vibe for our next two votes, Quintessa take home 9 points with their anniversary entry, beautiful as ever from Ólafur, while Jadakissnia grab 8 points with their understated RÜFÜS-esque vibes. 7 points (what else x) for Trifoski's earwormy classic rock sounding track and it's 6 points for Unovia, making our votes for the second contest in a row with a powerful bit of electronic music. Feels far too low, this is easily our strongest top 10 of the year so far methinks. Rolloland feature in our votes as always, 5 points this time (again seems too low) for their boppy old skool rave tune. Some rare pure pop in our votes in the form of 4 points to Skall which proved to be a big grower. Séyetana complete the set of instrumentals with all four making it to our votes, they get 3 points, then finally we give 2 points to Hushkanukia with their best post-comeback entry yet (and their first points from us since Oonagh in BJSC 94) and our last point goes to a unique atmospheric delight from Aeroche.
