For reference, 'One Kiss' debuted at #4 on Spotify, #3 officially, and without checking at least top 3 on iTunes.

 

The hit machine that is Calvin Harris will be releasing this Friday with Sam Smith. The two have 15 #1s combined together (9 for Calvin and 6 for Sam) so this could very much easily instantly add another to their tally but 'Shotgun' and 'In My Feelings' are still doing very well and could stop it.

 

Predict the first week sales and chart position and first day positions on iTunes and Spotify for this new song, no one has heard it yet but it's pretty much guaranteed to be a big hit based on name power. Also in this thread predict the peak position and how long it will be at #1 for if at all.

 

I think because of how massive 'One Kiss' has been it will be momentum enough for this to go straight in at #1, provided the song is commercial and good of course, especially as 'In My Feelings' is past its peak now. I hope it gives Calvin another #1 too, g'won Calvin! :dance:

I cannot stand Sam Smith

Oh this is an interesting collab! Sounds a bit weird on paper, I know Sam has provided vocals for dance before but that was more chill, underground bar-style Disclosure music - I'm intrigued to hear him over Calvin production.

I mean I wouldn't be surprised if this is something in the vein of 'Latch'. It's not like Calvin only has one style.

 

I'm hoping this should be good as I like all of Sam Smith's collabs with Disclosure and 'La La La' (and 'Money On My Mind' for that matter) so I think he's generally fine when he's not making deathly dull ballads, which I presume this one won't be. On paper it seems like it should be the sort of thing that'll get to #1 but I wouldn't want to predict before hearing it ~

This could be the biggest No.1 of the year. 2 biggest names in the music industry could be pretty instant, if it takes off, anything but Drake. Could also stay at No.1 for a while, we yet to get a 10 weeker plus.

I think this will be Number 1. Hopefully will be a great track too!

 

Does anyone know when exactly this will be available? Will they be waiting for a first play on Radio 1 tomorrow morning before pushing it out on iTunes and Spotify or will it be out at Midnight?

I'm thinking this might be a bit of a low-key dance track from Calvin, and so might not debut all that high. This said, "One Kiss" wasn't THAT immediate a hit for me, but listening back to it now I can't believe I ever thought that. Expecting a T10 debut on Spotify on day 1, T5 debut on the chart (40-60k) - if it's good then hopefully it'll reach #1.

I think #1 is quite probable. It'll do a 'Blame' I expect.

I think it could do a blame given the charts have been stale for a while but I doubt it'll get close to matching One Kiss.

This will probably sneak in a week or two at number one once interest falls away/ACR gets applied to whatever is at the top for the next month and a bit. But immediately, just on the names of Calvin and Sam alone will probably be top 20 first week out with a slow climb up to the top 5.

Not quite the huge instant Spotify smash we were expecting but #14 is not too bad especially considering the big first day Ariana album streams. Should easily make the top 3 in time.
