I definitely believe Lib Dems would be doing a lot better if we had some form of PR but I suspect many (including me) are voting Labour to target the Tories.

However, I am surprised that they aren’t taking more of the Tory remain vote as most of the criticisms from the Lib Dems are still aimed at their time in the coalition.

Most Digital Spy posters blame Swinson for her "I'm the next PM proclamation", her poor performance in last Friday's debate and other things. She's too young and inexperienced but may grow in to the role if she keeps her seat and they keep her as leader. Layla Moran already tipped to succeed her.

We don't need to catch up. We just need Lib Dems to retain sufficient strength to take some south east seats, SNP to take the Scottish ones and the Tory vote to collapse there, and for Lab to take some of the marginals. That's it.

So what you are saying is that you'd be happy for Labour to take power with a lower vote share than the Tories - just like Trump did in 2016?

I anticipate a Tory majority and refuse to let myself get too excited about the prospect of something else however much I may want Boris out of no.10

Expect the worst; then you wont be disappointed... I'm doing the same really.

I just can't grasp how anyone could ever support such a lying racist and be willing to vote for him, or even stand in that party.

The left wing get more votes than the right sooo yes  Add the Lib Dem numbers plus Green numbers plus SNP numbers plys Plyiad Cyru numbers to Labour please x Tories just have the entire right wing on board. The left is HISTORICALLY fractured. That's why it is completely different x

~10 days which is enough time to get the polling lead down by another 4-5% perhaps. Although current polls don't take into account the terror attack or the most recent televised debate.

FFS, you really are getting desperate, trying to blame Boris for the terror attack!

Plus they are not including the 1.5 million or so under 35 newly registered voters and are downplaying how many will vote v older voters...

Are you *still* on that? That was an unconfirmed report from *one* polling company!

That's because you have realised how badly the tories have damaged our democracy. Bojo should never ever be anywhere neaar a majority. Ever. If we had a level playing field he'd get, what, 20% maybe?

Is there no excuse you won't offer??

With hindsight, that was probably a strategic error. However, she said it in the fairly brief period when the polls were showing more or less a four-way tie. At that time, a shift of a couple points from each of the other parties to the Lib Dems would have given a majority. It is, of course, always difficult for a party leader to go into an election saying they can't win.

At least Jo Swinson is making herself available for debates and interviews, unlike someone else we could mention.

There was a great post on DS about why. They said he could even murder someone and many would still vote for his loveable buffoonery. All his interviews are car crash but that's part of his appeal. People can't wait to see what he says and does next. Just like Trump really. I used to watch his weekly grillings as mayor live on Parliament Channel and he was just the same, not answering and blustering his way through and making daft jokes. Also women voters seem to fancy him. :o

I saw somewhere an old friend of his saying he's a bit like a big kid and doesn't really take things seriously and thinks life's a big joke really. Doubt he's taking being PM seriously as he just wanted the job at any cost.

How do woman voters fancy him??? 😂

Well that's what's been said elsewhere. He has lots of charisma apparently! No idea as I'm not a woman!!

How does any of that qualify someone to be PM? Court jester maybe but not a position of power.

Well he is PM now whether we like it or not. Tory members obviously saw good in him and thought he was the best for the job.

No, they thought he would be a vote winner. A lot of voters are in for a very nasty shock if Johnson is given five years to show his true colours.

Latest poll from ICM has the gap between the top 2 unchanged (7 points) but notably Labour hitting the 35% mark for the first time during the campaign. Whether they're able to force a hung parliament pretty much entirely rests on if they can wrangle away a few more tactical votes from pragmatic Lib Dem supporters in the last couple of weeks it seems, the Tories are set for a very similar vote share to the last election.

I hope he doesn't make the ESA assessments even harder. They're hard enough and very unfair as it is. They need making less harsh or scrapping like Labour plan to do. There was talk of stopping the Mandatory Consideration and all judicial appeals too so that the first DWP decision was final but they've been told in no uncertain terms by disability groups that this would be unlawful and would be tested by them immediately in court.

The final polls before Mad May had Labour on 35% and were calling an 80 seat Tory majority ;)
Did any of you read the rumours last night that the Queen had died? Was all over Twitter and people asking what would happen to the election. Before the FTPA the death of the monarch would mean a 14 day delay but it's not sure what would happen now. Philip dying wouldn't mean any delay.

You need better reading comprehension as where in my post did I say that? I was just talking about the event in general.

I would imagine it would be postponed, particularly as this is an election outside the FTPA cycle. Obviously, it would not be delayed 14 days as I suspect a Boxing Day election would not be popular

I don't know whether it would count as a "new" election or not, particularly in terms of spending limits and postal votes already cast.
