Westlife single won't do well but the album will hit massive numbers

I know its a comeback album and could do ojk in current climate sales if they promote the hell out of it but I doubt it will be massive

If ASIB doesn't get number 1 this week it will probably struggle before the new year (if it can be consistent until then) surely Jess Glynne is just the start of the big q4 releases. Would be nice to see it go to number 1 for Bradley cooper (yes its a joint album he deserves just as much praise as gaga)

There's not really any 'big' albums after Jess until November 2 when The Prodigy release theirs. After that there's several big releases each week in November (Imagine Dragons, Muse, Michael Buble, Mumford & Sons, Rita Ora, The 1975 and Clean Bandit).

OUCH at Kodaline dropping straight out of the top 100! What a disaster!
At this point I'm not convinced Jess is a dead cert for number 1. The ASIB soundtrack could grow and the singles from Jess have been slow burners and dare I say reductive after the stellar run she had first time round.

no it's only a 'normal' bublé album.

(i am surprised he hasn't done a christmas ii yet but i suppose the first one just keeps on selling year after year so he doesn't really need to)

Oh not more Michael Buble :(

Another Christmas album?

Nope, he's only released 1 Christmas album funnily enough and that was way back in 2011.

That's exactly why he should do a second 1 everyone must already have the first

And really no big releases for the rest of October then maybe it could be ASIB vs bohemian rhapsody soundtrack possibly

The irony of everybody loving the 'A Star Is Born' soundtrack (particularly 'Shallow') when it sounds like it came straight from the 'Joanne' sessions.

I listened to 3 tracks from ASIB earlier and quite enjoyed them, thinking they sounded quite "Joanne" - personally "Joanne" is my favourite Gaga album (though actually maybe I do prefer the "Monster" 8 track, and my favourite Gaga track is "Paparazzi"). I'm so glad she went down the "Joanne" route because it felt so much more organic, a way of showcasing her true talent, and paved the way for opportunities like this. I'm actually tempted to go and see the movie. This time 5 years ago I thought she'd become a parody of herself. "Venus" was atrocious, "G.U.Y." wasn't much better. "ArtPop" was not good, though I did love the two singles that led it.

I don't think jess glynn second album will do nearly aswell as people are expecting next week. Bubles last week didn't sell great so it's hard to call how this will go, it's likely his Christmas album will sell just aswell by year end.
How are Westlife going to do well? Most acts their age like Boyzone struggle with hit singles due to lack of airplay and the impact of streaming. Why do people assume Westlife will be any different?

Agreed - it won’t do half as well. The singles aren’t as strong and overall have sold less.

Wait have I missed something, people are saying that westlife could get a top ten this year, as if, they’ll be lucky to go top 100. They were last a contender for a no. 1 in 2009 I think but stalled at 2 and last had a major top ten hit the following year, and it has been almost a decade since then. I mean look at boyzone, both similar Irish boy bands who do polished and manufactured songs and covers and they’re not getting far at all.

Westlife should at least go top 40 with it being their comeback single, the Ed Sheeran co-write and possible X Factor performance I'd think.

Top 10 is unlikely but it also definitely won't completely miss the top 100.

I think one good comparison could be Take That's Giants, and that was last year and made the top 20, so don't think making the upper chart is impossible (and I do dislike Westlife)

Didn’t Giants go 13-Out though? I mean yes, they managed a top 20 hit, but one week in the too 100 is hardly impressive. It was a decent song considering so I hope Westlife can manage something similar just for the sake of it

Would’ve loved for Happier to go #1 but I can’t see it happening between Calvin, Dave, and Little Mix competing too :( So happy that Bastille have had this huge success though, I actually thought Pompeii was a #1 until the chart show so it would be a very long awaited and very deserving peak for them if they manage it

Westlife will know the single will not do well, the promotion will be for the album sales.

I have a feeling Jess Glynn will not make no1 although it may be close.

In the singles chart, I really want Happier to go no1, such a great tune!!

If Steps, Kylie, Take That etc., can manage it then so can Westlife - they will have a lot of interest in their return and if they release a physical format fans will lap it up (That’s how ‘Giants’ by Take That managed to go Top 15).

yes its true Giants was a hit mainly thanks to TT releasing a CD single, so Westlife should learn from that

and yes it was in and out of the charts, but so did all the Westlife singles in the past
