October 31, 20186 yr The Christmas #1 is probably not even out yet. Shallow won’t last that long. People said that about Perfect and Rockabye over the last few years!
October 31, 20186 yr Shallow is the best no.1 in years, since Lorde's Tennis Courts maybe, but it's not going to be Christmas no.1  Spice Girls have more of a chance!
October 31, 20186 yr We'll probably get some surprise big release in November which goes on to become Christmas number one, I can't see any of the songs in the top end of the chart at the moment taking it.
November 1, 20186 yr Shallow is the best no.1 in years, since Lorde's Tennis Courts maybe, but it's not going to be Christmas no.1  Spice Girls have more of a chance! But Tennis Court wasn't a #1?Â
November 1, 20186 yr only on 1st listen but the new Clean Bandit with Marina is the Xmas #1 for sure!!!!!!!! Need to bet on that
November 1, 20186 yr great post. personally I'd love to see leona top the charts again. anything that is actually resembling the theme of Christmas for me would be just perfect, but there are also some great tunes out at the mo. Rudimental 'walk alone' for one....
November 1, 20186 yr Who said the new Band Aid wouldn't be until 2024? :lol:Â https://www.countytimes.co.uk/news/17195250...ristmas-single/Â (I know it's a different group name but good lord at the 'names' involved)
November 1, 20186 yr The Wombles and The Goodies are teaming up for a Christmas #1 this year :lol:Â or Pinkfong :heehee:
November 1, 20186 yr The Wombles and The Goodies are teaming up for a Christmas #1 this year :lol:Â or Pinkfong :heehee: TBH, the Wombles' Christmas song is a tune!
November 1, 20186 yr Clean Bandit - Baby (feat. Marina & Luis Fonsi)Benny Blanco & Calvin Harris - I Found You ^ Both out tomorrow, and could be contenders!
November 1, 20186 yr I'm still going for Westlife. :PÂ Yes, but what about your prediction for Christmas #1.
November 1, 20186 yr I don't know what will be Xmas #1 this year but I'm fairly sure of some things that won't be - Westlife (sorry), the X-Factor winner, novelty records, anything subject to a 'make record X the Christmas number 1' campaign - all are too reliant on sales and won't get the streaming numbers that are required in 2018. I can't really see anything currently in the top 40 being there either - Shallow will surely be on ACR by then; Jess Glynne's Thursday has upward momentum at the right time but has an outside chance at best; that's about it. I wouldn't be too surprised if one of the usual Xmas classics (Wham or Mariah) is in a position where it would have been #1 if on SCR, but on ACR they'll be top 10 at best. Clean Bandit and Benny / Calvin are credible contenders, as is George Ezra (though if Hold My Girl is that popular, even as an 8-month old album cut you'd have expected it to have peaked higher than #81 so far). We'll obviously have a better idea in a few weeks, but even then I think it could be a 'surprise' release from an established, heavily streamed act, in the vein of Funky Friday or Eminem's River (last year's Xmas #2 on release).
November 1, 20186 yr Perfect was an 8 month old album cut last year and was top 5 before zooming to no1 with Eds promo and the rerelease she to blow all else out of the water. Prob makes sense for artists to promo and hype their songs from 1st December again like in the past IF they really want Christmas no1!
November 2, 20186 yr I'm still going for Westlife. :P Deluded. No.48. GaGa COULD do it ... but with I'll Never Love Again/ that other one
November 2, 20186 yr Remember the days when you actually had a battle? Now we seem to be just guessing what’s left after eliminating all songs that can’t get there in a streaming era.
November 2, 20186 yr Remember the days when you actually had a battle? Now we seem to be just guessing what’s left after eliminating all songs that can’t get there in a streaming era. Yup! There have been many great battles over the years! Shame!
