October 30, 20186 yr I'm starting to think maybe even 'Stop Me From Falling' could have made a better performance if they had to pick a previous single. I think a good performance of MTSWY with Jack could have propelled the album back into the top 40. Obviously we'll never know now...
October 30, 20186 yr I definitely think people are reading into this too much. XF's viewing figures are continuing to decline. Whether she performed A Lifetime to Repair or MTSWY, I doubt there'd be a big difference in album sales. It seems like some of you were anticipating that had she performed the latter both the single and the album would have shot right up to #1. :drama: I didn’t expect it to go to #1 but I think it was not an unrealistic expectation that it would at least return the album to the bottom end of the T75 which is not going to happen.
October 31, 20186 yr Well this is a very negative feed. I for one loved Kylie's performance on X factor , she looked like she was having a great time as she was on the tour. It is a fresh song, MTSWY would have not have been the right choice for a show that is watched predominately by 15 to 30 year olds. You only have to tell from Janice being voted off that they don't want older artists around. Kylie looked great, ok vocally towards the end there was a lot of snatched breaths that sounded not so good, but overall really well and another nice execution of the album. Regarding sales who cares now , the album has done really well and the longevity in this market and that she is not a streamed artist is remarkable. Lets celebrate the success and get off the complaining bus!!!
October 31, 20186 yr By large if you read through 90% of the other posts the comments are always positive here towards Kylie. I think it is only natural that not everything gets compliments and the standard of this performance was much lower than we have got in all her previous promotional slots for this album. The lack of effect from the performance shows there is room for negative comments from fans such as myself as me like many others found the performance underwhelming.
November 1, 20186 yr Pippa, the phrase is "by and large". :kink: The lack of effect from the performance shows there is room for negative comments from fans such as myself as me like many others found the performance underwhelming. I just feel that this is wearing thin now. We're 10 months into the Golden era and she's had a great deal of success with it already. As fans, we've surely reached the point now where anything else we get from her is bonus - we should be able to relax. I mean, great if Golden receives a chart boost, but it's not the end of the world if it doesn't. How about we appreciate the fact that this era has been able to last for as long as it has, and that there's still even more to come? I'm glad that she gave us a performance of A Lifetime To Repair. We still have at least a couple of Music's Too Sad Without You performances to come. It's a great time to be a fan, so why the despair over how Golden is doing this week? That's what I'm starting to find annoying. There's a lot to celebrate from this era and more to look forward to, yet the general mood in here is almost like Kylie's in a very precarious position career-wise and that each performance is a make-or-break scenario. The slight meltdowns over how Golden was doing on iTunes following the X Factor performance though. :drama: It's just a bit much!
November 1, 20186 yr I for one am not despairing by any means over how Golden is doing this week. I have often posted over the last few months saying it is a great time to be a Kylie fan as we have got so much in this era. The album has exceeded expectations and has had a great chart run, her best for a long time. That said, i don't think its alot to ask for the best out of each performance, i am not referring to Kylie here i am referring to the point if Kylie does promotion it is wonderful to see her gain greatly from sales as essentially that is what the performance slots are for, to promote either the single or the album. I believe no act goes on that stage or any stage for that matter without the hope of gaining attention from it and gaining sales, otherwise it is a pointless exercise to a large extent.

November 1, 20186 yr I don't think anyone is doubting that its a successful era and went better than we thought. It's more that the performance could have been more beneficial if it was received better and some of us just think a different song would have had a better result.
November 2, 20186 yr Author Exactly..... She isn't song promo for the fun of it..... It's to sell albums
November 3, 20186 yr But again, that's you and certain others coming at it purely from a business point of view and focusing on sales. I haven’t insinuated anywhere that Kylie performs purely for the hell of it. I’m not talking about Kylie/BMG’s commercial expectations from the promotion she does. I’m talking about us. Reiterating my previous post: we're fans of Kylie, and we could, you know, focus more on the performance in terms of the performance, and not primarily on the commercial outcome of said performance / speculating what could have been a better song choice to potentially have achieved a greater sales boost? :drama: We're meant to be her fans, not her manager / accountants! I totally understand that fans care about how their faves do. I just think at this point in time we're in a position where we don't really have to care so deeply. The reaction to the A Lifetime to Repair performance, in terms of Golden on iTunes and in the midweeks, was bordering on melodrama! I just find it weird... this is a #1 album and Kylie is arguably BMG’s strongest signing. All is good. Exhale! Btw I’m not saying that people had to enjoy the performance just because we’re fans. I'd have preferred to have seen a more in depth discussion on why some people didn't enjoy the performance in terms of the performance, rather than it being this: "omg wrong song choice, what's she doing, this won't create a good boost, oh God it's falling on iTunes!! Disastrous!! That's not enough money for BMG!". :') P.S. If you’re all so preoccupied with the business side of things, consider this: a promotional performance on The X Factor isn’t purely to achieve album sales. That’s obviously a strong intention but it’s not the sole reason for it. It’s literally an opportunity to showcase herself to an audience of millions. They might not rush to iTunes, but there’ll surely be some who thought “wow she’s still a great performer - I must catch her on tour next time.”. If she does Glastonbury and or/a major Pride event, it could be many of the people who saw her on The X Factor who end up going to see her. Maybe some would have made a mental note to buy the album nearer to Christmas, rather than instantaneously. Promo is not purely about the short term effect.
November 3, 20186 yr As u previously posted I didn't think it was the best song choice but my main disappointment was vocally it was one of her weakest I had heard in a long time, but these was why I was disappointed.
November 3, 20186 yr Author I thought the whole thing wasn't great. The singing was not strong, the cameraman struggled, there was too much going on, the stage seemed cluttered, when Kylieplaced the snooker ball on the table it sounded and looked amateurish, the song never flowed and she nearly feel again.
