Looking back, this era was strangely handled. Although I actually really like 'Only You' (I think it's very pretty), I think launching a Christmas album off the back of it was a very odd choice. For starters it's not a Christmas song! Also having a duet with James Corden be the first song the public hears from your first Christmas album? Hmm. All in all I think that choice comes across like an underconfident move, like a suggestion that there wasn't enough faith in the original material.

Kylie really should have gone with an upbeat original Christmas song to lead the era, with a music video. Surely that would have given her more of a chance of achieving a staple Christmas song. Artists such as Kelly Clarkson, Leona Lewis and Sia managed this with their Christmas albums. 'Christmas Isn't Christmas 'Til You Get Here' or 'White December' were literally right there!

Although they kind of rectified this by choosing 'At Christmas' to launch the Snow Queen reissue... they didn't exactly put their all into trying to make that song happen. No music video? Then the silliness of using her X Factor slot to perform Everybody's Free (To Feel Good)... another non-Christmas song when the objective is to get the public to buy your Christmas album??

I get the feeling that BMG would have handled a Christmas album far better than Parlophone did.

Agree with everything here. 'Only You' is sweet enough but wouldn't be my choice for lead, especially when you had such gems, as you mentioned, in the form of 'White December' and 'Christmas Isn't Christmas 'Til You Get Here'. The fact neither of them got a release nor a performance on one of Kylie's many promo slots she had for the album is criminal.

The X Factor situation is definitely odd but I wonder if Simon Cowell and the other producers had a say in what was performed, like part of the deal was that Kylie performed with the two finalists and sang an upbeat song that everyone knew. Madness also performed that night and got to perform one of their new songs but also performed two of their classics (can't remember how much airtime the new song got but I bet it was only about a minute). I also remember having similar thoughts about 'Can't Get You Out of My Head' being the song used to promote 'The Abbey Road Sessions' on the show in 2012.

Don't think I'll be purchasing this vinyl. If I could remove some of the tracks and add on some of the Snow Queen edition songs, then my reimagined album would be a much more consistent, enjoyable listen.

Could they possibly push this release back a few weeks and push out some more Vinyl and then benefit from some streaming sales in December to add to its total......
^^ Based on previously re-issued Parlophone vinyl I don’t think they care about streaming, sales, charts… they make a certain amount available that they know will sell and they will make a profit on rather than attempting anything outside of that.
Strange how a simple idea and Kylie fans seem to attack any different form of opinion than there own.........

Oh well, i will continue to say what i think, at least i contribute here.

I am confused I didn't attack your opinion??

I'm sure Smiley Kylie wasn't referring to you, I was the one who directly responded, although honestly I wouldn't say I attacked his opinion - I was just incredulous about the suggestion of releasing it in the summertime lol.

IP #5 and KC #16 on Amazon’s vinyl best sellers list :w00t:

:yahoo:

Sleigh! ( :kink: )

That's nice, although I'm still burned by Spice Girls - Forever vinyl not only reaching #1 on Amazon's vinyl chart but also in their overall albums chart... yet it ended up missing the Official Chart's Albums Top 200 altogether!

That’s the thing with Amazon you never have any idea of sales!

The fact it’s jumped ahead of Taylor and The Arctics should (hopefully) mean it’s pulled in a decent number, my expectations for this re-release are zero though tbh.

Kylie Xmas up from 96th to 4th on Amazon besr selling Cd/vinyl currently.

Its 4th on pre-order chart at HMV too.

I reckon probably sold 500 copies so far total?

I'm sure they will plug it more nearer the release time and help it sell more, I wonder is there many copies of tge snow queen edition still in print, wuth that and the original version they should try and offload it at the same time to get them sold. Kylie Christmas could make 200,000 on the next 2 years.
^^ I hope they do but Parlophone haven’t promoted or pushed the Kylie reissues previously - they’ve just been released without much fanfare, maybe as this is a Christmas album and with Christmas music increasing in popularity all the time they might see an opportunity to do a bit more with it?

Up to 3 on HMV pre order music chart, moved ahead of 1 of Louis Tomlinson CDs.

So must have sold a fair few
