Golden did offer more songs that stood out as good choices for singles.

That said, Closer and Cupid Boy did stand out to be selected as singles when the album was released.

Its hard to know whether any of these would have done any better than get outta my way, i would like to think they might of as i wasnt a fan of get outta my way for second single.
Either is likely to have outperformed Better Than Today had they made the selection for the 3rd single to represent Aphrodite.

I really don't see how either of those would have done better.

Agreed. 'Get Outta My Way' was the perfect second single, but should have been ready to push when the album was released. Like, why did it get performed on Alan Carr in July but not receive its physical release until the end of September? It just shows that Parlophone were stuck in the early 00s method of single releasing.

Never forget the time on X Factor when Dermot asked when 'Better Than Today' would be out and Kylie replied "soon". Soon?! She should have said "right NOW".

Parlophone struggled immensely with the singles market at that point.

They had a very outdated approach which Kylie acknowledged.

Kylie badly messed up that answer on X Factor when talking to Dermot about the availability of Better Than Today.

Aphrodite discussion in the Golden thread :o

To bring it back to Golden... Joseph, Bal and myself are listening to it at the same time headphones_40x40.gif

I hope you are listening to Golden via streaming.

 I'm listening via iTunes, oops! I'll remember to stream next time!

I hope you are listening to Golden via streaming.

I am streaming it on Spotify because i'm a true fan but Jay and Joseph aren't -_-

I have actually been listening to a LOT of Kylie recently. This album, isn't a firm favourite but it's fabulous nonetheless~

'Lost Without You' is my favourite album track on it <3

Golden is not a firm favourite of mine either but I do rate the album positively.

I am guilty of listening to the cd at times instead of given it the extra streams.

Golden doesn't have a song that ever makes me question why it was selected for the album.

It's been great revisiting the album, has been a while since I last played it! Lost Without You is a true GEM though, it really should've been the standard album closing track. It fits really well after Music's Too Sad actually, and lifts the mood back up for a gorgeous close! Shame it's only on the deluxe - it's single material imo :(

Yes Bal! 'Lost Without You' is really glorious, I'm so pleased Kylie fought to have it on the album and subsequently the tour. I know they were playing on the country theme throughout the era, but this would have been a perfect single. The tour performance with the spoken middle 8 and the lazer scene was such a highlight.

Def not a single choice for me, it prob should be on the standard edition of the album but i never saw it good enough for a single.

Lost Without You is nowhere near strong enough to have been a single.

It' is not a terrible song by any stretch, it is a very B side song.

I know you guys don't like it but it's seen as a huge highlight by most of the fanbase, it would have been good to capitalise on that and I think it would have got some fans that weren't keen on the country direction back on board with the era.
I really couldn't see it even getting the limited success MTSWY did. It would have done better than a lifetime to repair if got that slot on x factor to be fair.

There is a strong possibility Kylie would have performed a better version of Lost Without You.

The studio versions of each song places A Lifetime To Repair a stronger song.

:( Is there something specific about Lost Without You that makes you feel so meh towards it? Lyrically, vocally, production-wise?

If memory serves me correctly a few reviews favourably singled out Lost Without You and a couple of interviews made special mention of the song? There's certainly something to it which elevates it over B Side status and it even drew more attention than some of the other Golden album tracks. Not that being a B Side always means a song is "less good" because Kylie has some great B Sides, but... in my opinion Lost Without You is highly worthy of album status and would have been a strong single. I don't necessarily mean commercially strong, because Kylie's days of huge hits are sadly over, but I think it would sit very comfortably amongst her singles... as a highlight!

The tour performance was epic
