I downloaded 6 tracks when this came out first but have never listened to the whole album proper, just cherry-picked these ones in 2019 (here with chart performance):

7 12 LONDON BOY

8 12 CRUEL SUMMER (always thought this should have been the first single, better late than never)

17 10 ME!

18 13 YOU NEED TO CALM DOWN

30 7 LOVER

29 7 THE MAN

I see London Boy not that popular, but I thought it was rather sweet and nice to see her upbeat in a coy, fun mood name-dropping London places. Anyways, I was Target in Florida and they had a (very small) selection of CD's, including 2 copies of a diary version of Lover - in the form of an exclusive hardish-back Deluxe Album Version 3 with some reprints of her old diary entries from age 13 and on, photos, blank pages for filling in, and a hardback front cover and rear with the extended CD tucked away with CD booklet and poster. It's not often I shell out for CD's these days, but it was a rather nice package and not available in the UK I expect. 20 dollars, bargain.

So, just playing it, it's a good album , on one play it seems like a mostly cohesive pop-could-be-hits collection up to and including track 11. Then it shifts to a more eclectic bonus album: introverted country-folk Dixie Chicks featuring mood, downbeat jazz-tinged ballad, the first two commercial singles, one catchy singalong, one indie-rock Panic! At The Disco featuring fun both completely out of place in this section. I'd def have saved Soon You'll Get Better and False God for later albums, Afterglow maybe the closing track, or It's Nice To Have A Friend, that's quite sweetly oriental-sounding. The 2 "Voice Memo" tracks are just early versions of I Forgot That You Existed and Lover that really should be tucked away on extra disc, maybe along with the tracks that could have been used on later albums.

I always think albums should put the strongest tracks up front, unless they are shifting you through a journey of moods, or like the last Pet Shop Boys album grouped into themes. Think I would had the track list as an old-fashioned vinyl 2-sided of Hits & Reflective:

1. You Need To Calm Down

2. Me!

3. Cruel Summer

4. London Boy

5. The Man

6. Paper Rings

7. I Think He Knows

8. Cornelia Street

9. I Forgot That You Existed

10. Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince

11. Lover

12. Death By a Thousand Cuts

13. Daylight

14. It's Nice To Have A Friend

'ME!' is so over hated lmao.

I'm listening to the 'Lover: Live From Paris' vinyl and the crowd are on FORM and are really selling the song to me

"Lover (Live In Paris)" is set to be Taylor's first album to go fall out of the top 100 completely after being at #1 the previous week. Expected since it's a limited release that only charted with physicals.
