Surely Mariah has done enough for No.1. Taking ACR into account, Ava was only a bit ahead for the first two days, but then Mariah’s going to have four days in the lead, including 24th-26th with a huge lead. Don’t know how they are going to estimate Thursday’s streams or how much of a difference downloads make, but I’m now predicting Mariah.

I don't know why anyone would want to stream a Xmas song today, surely the Xmas tracks will slowly start decreasing after Christmas Day. Most likely people will start using the gift cards from today and tomorrow, which might give Ava the edge she needs. Mariah is already #33 on downloads, would someone actually use a gift card to purchase Xmas tracks surely not, they rather spend it on current or new music. And its most likely Ava's last chance, as going into the new year, Post Malone might just sneak in there on low sales.

Yes I agree with you, but surely people will be redeeming their gift cards on music, if you get what I mean

Put it this way, I’m off to a family Christmas get together, and it’d make sense for Christmas music to be playing in the background. It’s still Christmas!

am i the only one who things streaming points have soo much impact, on chart which is actually ruining it???

Most Radio stations don't agree though as they've stopped playing Xmas songs.

It's daft really. It's more Christmas now than it was in November when they started playing the songs. Christmas doesn't end the minute you've opened your presents.

I love how the public view Christmas. They have a massive 3 month build up and then act like it’s all over come Boxing Day when really the 12 days of Christmas only just started and it isn’t over until January 6th.

Really makes you realise just how commercial the holiday has become.

No I fully agree with you and Christmas only emphasises how much impact playlists are now having.

Imagine a radio 1 playlist having so much influence back in the day, it was never allowed to happen.

It's the next conundrum for the OCC to solve but I don't know how.

Some people are having their Xmas Day today due to their family members working yesterday

Technically Christmas starts on Dec 25 and last 12 days until 5 Jan, of course we live in different times now and it seems Christmas ends on 25 Dec these days.

My local Spar had put out Creme Eggs and Mini Eggs on Monday

The world has actually gone mad.

Radio 2 still playing Christmas songs today.

Considering that "All I Want For Christmas" regularly re-enters the chart in the middle of November, is it so ridiculous to believe that people might still be listening to Christmas music 1 day after Christmas (or really at any time of the year)? It's not as if it's all just unbearable tuneless cacophonies only tolerated for thematic reasons. They're generally pleasant, catchy tunes which tends to be what people like listening to.
I'm pretty sure more people listen to Christmas music on Boxing Day than in the first half/middle of November. There'll still be a few Christmas songs in the Spotify chart tomorrow.
Why are we even having this discussion about Boxing Day Christmas streams? We all clearly saw last year that some people do still play them on Boxing Day. Yes, they do collapse in streams, but I'm absolutely certain there were some in the top 200 last year on Boxing Day.
If she gets it officially which seems likely Would Mariah break a record for the female song with the highest already existing sales total to go #1 without ever going to #1 previously? And also the longest time span of releasing and going to #1.

Apologies if this has been mentioned before I’m just really curious :P

I don't think there's any need for the 'female' qualifier here unless I'm forgetting an obvious song by a male artist that did anything like this?
