This album. THIS. ALBUM.

The Rosalía collab. I'm FLOORED. Potential to be song of the year. James Blake singing in Spanish <333

The Metro Bloomin songs are killer as well. There's not a single dud in the whole thing at all.

All of this

What an incredible album

Just given this a first listen, will definitely have to give it a few more listens to let everything grow on me more but based on first impressions 'Lullaby For My Insomniac' is potentially one of his best songs to date, an absolute stunner  'Can't Believe The Way We Flow', 'Barefoot In The Park', 'Mile High' and 'Where's The Catch?' are the other immediate standouts for me (and 'Don't Miss It' is great too obvz - I wish he had included 'If The Car Beside You Moves Ahead' here as well, I think it would have fit fine around CBTWWF which has the same kind of glitchy sound reminiscent of his early EPs). James & Metro Boomin sounds like a strange combination on paper but it works surprisingly seamlessly! James & ROSALÍA on the other hand worked just as well as I hoped it would *.* am only surprised that it didn't end up being my absolute favourite on first listen.

I think so far this isn't quiiiiite as great overall as his first two albums for me (and I've still not even heard the third oops, I'm awful. soon x) but like I said it needs a little more time for the other tracks beyond those main standouts to grow on me and maybe I'll revisit that statement ~

I'm really enjoying this album, I haven't been much of a fan of his at all over the years but I do really like Limit to Your Love.

Assume Form (song), Tell Them and Barefoot in the Park are my current favourites

very surprised Pitchfork has given it a bad review, barely a 5

really thought they were gonna lover it n/f giver it a 10 or something crazy

https://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/james-...ke-assume-form/

they had given a 9 to his debut and an 8-something to his last one

Pitchfork has a tendency to just conveniently happen to give worse reviews to artists who have been critical of them (which James Blake has been since the release of his last album, calling them out for describing 'Don't Miss It' as 'sad boy music'). Kinda ruins their credibility a bit. Compare this to pretty much every single other review of the album (it has an 82 on Metacritic even after Pitchfork's review, it was at 90 before that) and it definitely seems like that score is more getting back at him rather than his actual music.

I've also noticed pitchfork is a bit anti-British

I really like this album, I can see myself listening to it more in the near future than I've listened to The Colour in Anything.. well, ever, lol (I do like The Colour in Anything but it hasn't drawn me back in that much). I enjoy the "bare, moody and self-absorbed" touch his music has to it.

Still very early days, but currently my favourites are 'Can't Believe The Way We Flow', 'I'll Come Too' and 'Power On'. The only track I'm not rly mad on is 'Mile High', oops. The album on the whole does feel like a natural progression for James, the trap influence doesn't feel out of place or anything whatsoever (even if I did note one of the trap tracks as my least favourite :D).

Pretty much every song on here is a grower as I hoped! 'Into The Red' and 'I'll Come Too' in particular have really stood out to me more with a couple more listens

I think 'Tell Them' and 'Power On' are the only songs on here that are still not doing too much for me, perfectly good to listen to but not finding them particularly memorable.

A wild music video appears.

I was literally wondering earlier today if we'd get a video for this song so that's a weird coincidence! Very trippy video, fits the song well ~

Just realised that I haven't posted in here as yet but I've been listening to this so much over the past couple of weeks. It's just soooooo very good indeed and has made me take the time to go back through his other albums and really appreciate them in a way I'd never really managed to before - in fact I'd only previously kept Retrograde on my playlists for the past few years.

There are times in his discography where he sounds like Terence Trent D'arby, I'd never noticed that before put particularly on tracks like DLM...

edit... also his cover of Vincent from Christmas 2017 is absolutely beautiful, I'm obsessed with it

not sure if I get that video

but yes, his covers are always amazing, love Vincent too,

he also did A Case of You, and of course Limit to your Love

The music video of "Barefoot In The Park" is available now.

Beautiful, and still one of my favourite songs of the year thus far.

Will forever be confused by how Pitchfork found it forgettable with a typical tropical beat~

pitchfork can be morons sometimes, it's all cos he's not American

the song is amazing, one of the best of 2019, the video is nice too

hope this gets the song some exposure

both playing on the same day at the Primavera festival in Barcelona in a few weeks, so hope they collaborate live on stage

it's a great festival with an amazing line-up if you don't know it
