11th. I Want You [Ft Massive Attack] = 12 Points



Welcome to Round 5 of Madonna's 'Something To Remember' - Survivor polls, and after taking a break from the usual polls and instead ranked each song by points, and the latest to fall is 'I Want You', which gained just 12 points. I know I said that there would be 2 going, but considering another 2 tracks both gained 14 points, I didn't think it would be fair to get rid of 3, so instead I've decided to make this round a Double Elimination round.

'I Want You' was originally intended to be the album's lead single with British trip hop group Massive Attack and even had a music video but in the end legality problems between the Motown label and Madonna's record label prevented this from happening. Massive Attack later included the song on the special edition of their greatest hits compilation Collected in 2006. Instead the song was used as a promotional release and did get included on the Marvin Gaye tribute album 'Inner City Blues: The Music of Marvin Gaye' in 1995. There is a lot of sadness in this song and yes I would say that Madonna does do a really good cover of this and it would have been interesting to see how this would have fared chart wise, but as it is, its a really good album track with Madonna bringing such raw emotions to her vocals and putting so much of herself into this little gem and created something really special.

I voted I'll Remember and Playground.

 

Was going to say it was a shame to see Forbidden Love as one of the songs tied with the most votes, but most of those ballads are up there with Madonna's greatest and most known, so I can't be too surprised.

 

Bedtime Stories as an album could well be in my Top 5 Madonna albums!
