Born in Spain and raised in London and Sweden, McVey showed a deep interest in music during early childhood and studied music production. Her parents didn't know that she was writing music until she was 16. Before she turned 20, she released her debut single, the independently released "Know Me Better" -- a moody, yearning piece of breakbeat soul. Signed to Polydor, she had her second single, "My Boy My Town," out by the end of 2015. Shortly after that, she was nominated in the BBC Sound of 2016 poll (won by Jack Garratt). In 2017, she delivered the mixtape Ivy to Roses, which included the single "Finders Keepers," featuring Kojo Funds. - iTunes Top 100 Chart History 2017 08 Finders Keepers (Mabel feat. January 25, 20197 yr Someone You Loved is a wonderful song, I wish it was Grace getting this success but great to see him looking likely to get a Top 10! Options isn't that bad either!
January 25, 20197 yr The success of this has really outdone all of my expectations this week, absolutely no complaints though!!
January 25, 20197 yr "Options" is so refreshing  Is it really? It's just more of the same to me oops. Something like Funky Friday felt way more refreshing from the UK rap scene.
January 25, 20197 yr Yeah go Mabel - I think this is the highest a solo female artist of this genre has ever got in the charts without a male feature? Pretty decent tune too!

Born Timucin Fabian Kwong Wah Aluo in 1987, he grew up listening to rap, gospel, Afro-beat, and numerous other genres, and began making beats as a teenager, initially as a hip-hop producer. He got into house music after meeting Duke Dumont, and the two collaborated on the song "I Got U," which became an immediate hit when it was released in early 2014, topping the U.K. singles chart. Jones released his debut single, "Yeah Yeah Yeah," in 2015, and co-wrote Dumont's summer hit "Ocean Drive." In 2016, Jones released the single "House Work," featuring British vocalist MNEK and Chicago house veteran Mike Dunn. Featuring vocals from U.K. singer RAYE, Jones' next single, "You Don't Know Me," became his biggest solo hit yet, reaching the Top Ten on numerous charts around the world. He followed up in 2017 with the Demi Lovato and Stefflon Don-assisted "Instruction." - iTunes Years & Years Showcasing the melismatic vocals of Olly Alexander, London's Years & Years artfully combine '80s-style ambient synth pop with funky electronic beats. The group came together in 2010 in London when multi-instrumentalists/producers Michael Goldsworthy and Emre Türkman met online while looking to start a band. They eventually added vocalist and actor Alexander after hearing him singing at a friend's house while taking a shower. The trio's keyboard and electronics-based sound first gained exposure when the single Traps was released on Kitsuné Music in 2013. The group's second EP, Real, came out in February 2014, and with some impressive live dates under their belts, Years & Years announced they had signed a deal with Polydor. Their first major-label single, Take Shelter, appeared in August 2014, followed by a collaboration with the Magician on Sunlight a month later and by the release of Desire in November. In 2015, on the heels of winning the prestigious BBC Sound Of award, Years & Years released their debut full-length album, Communion. Well received, the album debuted at number one in the U.K., and peaked in the Top 50 of the U.S. Billboard 200. The following year, they were nominated for four BRIT Awards and contributed the single "Meteorite" to the Bridget Jones' Baby soundtrack. In 2018, they returned with the Kid Harpoon-produced single "Sanctify." - iTunes Top 100 Chart History Jax Jones 2014 01 I Got U (Duke Dumont feat. Jax Jones) 2016 85 House Work (Jax Jones feat. January 25, 20197 yr Yeah go Mabel - I think this is the highest a solo female artist of this genre has ever got in the charts without a male feature? Pretty decent tune too! I'm so confused as to what this means? Her genre? Pop and RnB have both had solo female #1s. Do you mean like this year?
January 25, 20197 yr I'm so confused as to what this means? Her genre? Pop and RnB have both had solo female #1s. Do you mean like this year? I sort-of meant the UK RnB/afro-beats revival that's happened over the last few years - the only other solo female song I can think of making the Top 40 was Jorja Smith's 'Blue Lights'
January 25, 20197 yr Never understood why House Work by Jax Jones never was the hit it should have been
