June 21, 20214 yr Excuse me!! That's horrifying! This song has became such an essential gay anthem since its release and it's one of theirs that has held up the best for me.
June 22, 20214 yr God 'LFTW' is truly slogging it's way to a certification isn't it. I can't believe with their biggest hit being on it that it and their last full album released during the streaming era that it hasn't even managed Silver.

I can't believe with their biggest hit being on it that it and their last full album released during the streaming era that it hasn't even managed Silver. To me that just shows how little replayability it has for even hardcore Saturdays fans. I think I listened to it three times in the seven years it's been released. Aside from What About Us (which is still one of their weakest singles), Disco Love, the single mix of Not Giving Up and MAYBE You Don't Have The Right/Leave A Light On it's such a mess of overproduced, American pandering, autotuned demo sounding rejects with awful lyrics.

I can't believe with their biggest hit being on it that it and their last full album released during the streaming era that it hasn't even managed Silver. I'd assume that it does less than 1000 copies a year tbh. People are most likely to listen to What About Us and Disco Love (and the top two tracks doesn't contribute sales to it - see I'm learning) from it and I'd assume that if people went to an album to actually play by them it'd be the Finest Selection.
June 23, 20214 yr Yeah I doubt it's at all close to going silver unfortunately. I'm not sure if we've had an official sales total since 2014, but in April 2014 it had only sold 25,000 (after 6 months on sale - and with the era being pretty much dead at that stage, I doubt it sold many more physicals/downloads). Another 35,000 sales is a huge mountain to climb. Like tommie says, What About Us and Disco Love's streams are negatable due to being reduced to the average of the next 10 tracks on the album - and most of those songs are not doing great numbers on Spotify. I wouldn't be too surprised if its weekly sales figure is only in the region of 20-30 sales, at a push. > Watch it go silver next week now :kink: ~ Regarding On Your Radar, I'll always think it's a shame that it rather emphatically spoiled their streak of Top 10 albums. It's my favourite album of theirs! #23 must have come as a huge shock to the label/the girls (it would have been interesting to be a fly on the wall when they found out that position :kink: ). The 5 individual member CD covers and the box set with DVD suggests that there was quite a lot of confidence that it would be a strong seller. Looking back, its first week sales of 18,044 doesn't look too bad... but evidently not strong enough for a November release. #20 sold 20,314 and #10 sold 34,754. The Saturdays' previous highest first week sale was under 23,000... so that's another sign of over-confidence from the label, to have scheduled it late into Q4. It seems like they must have had a huge amount of faith in My Heart Takes Over being a smash, but it was such a misfire (very ironic that it's ended up being one of their most streamed songs!). If only the album had been ready to go straight after All Fired Up. I think a September release would have been considerably less risky. 2 weeks after All Fired Up, only 12,380 was needed to get to #10.
June 23, 20214 yr On Your Radar is one of my favourite girlband albums. Shame it wasn't as big at the time but still full of hits.
June 23, 20214 yr I was hoping at the time that they'd attempt a re-release with 'On Your Radar', tack a feature on 'White Lies' or 'Get Ready, Get Set' followed by '30 Days' and relaunch the album in attempt to get it into the Top 20. I feel it in my bones that 'White Lies' would have ended up one of their most successful singles.
June 23, 20214 yr 'White Lies', 'Faster', 'Get Ready, Get Set' and 'Do What You Want With Me' would've been big/decent hits I think. MHTO bombing probably put them off 'Last Call' too which I think would have been a hit too... Also, I still stand by 'My Heart Takes Over' as a single choice... I just think they shoulda pushed hard with more promo.

Another 35,000 sales is a huge mountain to climb. I've noticed on Wikipedia that fans tend to love to put sales just under the next certification - I was on Nicola Roberts' page the other day and it claims her album sold 50,000 copies in the UK; err, no. Pretty sure the last update had it on around 20k. I guess some people think it sounds better that they're just under the next certification level rather than being far off. (*edits in that Siobhan Donaghy's Revolution in Me and Ghosts sold 59.9k* 😂)

June 24, 20213 yr they should have released the remix of ‘my heart takes over’ that sounded like ‘don’t hold your breath’ as that was a stormer! i guess it went against the whole video concept they had though.
June 24, 20213 yr the remix video of the digital song has 1.3m views on youtube, i think thats there most for a remix
June 24, 20213 yr Do you remember when it looked like they were gonna release 'The Way You Watch Me' as a single? SO glad that never happened! :drama: Yes I remember, they were casting for the video and I was horrified and the reaction of the fandom was overwhelmingly negative which is for sure why it was given the axe. The fact we got the 'Saturdays Only version as a '30 Days' b-side can't have been a coincidence. Their team was on some messy s***.
July 28, 20213 yr 13 YEARS?! :drama: I think it's underrated, okay it doesn't make that much sense, but it's a bop.
