Got 8/10 for predictions and what I wanted!

Serbia I'm a bit eh about as I neither wanted them nor predicted them! She sings it well but there's nothing memorable about the song. Slovenia also a surprise and especially after the song didn't really connect with me on live performance. They are my work sweepstake along with Belgium so I can't begrudge them a place in the final!

Pleasantly surprised to see Belarus through! Thought it was borderline but she sold it well on the night - Portugal are my main upset :( although following Australia and Iceland it is the least wacky out of the three so I'm not too shocked it didn't make it. Had it been in the first half I think it might've stood a better chance!

Australia and Iceland were both mega moments and really captured what makes Eurovision so special. Think they're both on to big things in the final. Czech Republic were also a nice surprise!

8 of my top 10 through plus 9/10 of predictions, i'll take that tbh

really shocked by Hungary, they've qualified with much worse recently

but on the plus side SERBIA, CZECHIA, BELARUS, SLOVENIA!!

Also Kate and 'back up dancers' flying had my literally laughing out loud :lol: Who on earth thought of that? And how did she maintain such good vocals whilst getting flung around?!
I hope Andorra, Luxembourg and Monaco are tempted to participate again now
Poland’s been getting it rough in Eurovision as of late but if Gromee’s got tier entry couldn’t make it then I didn’t expect The Shining twins forming a band to do it either

This cringefest was god tier? I.. how?

Tulia >>>>>>>>>>>> Gromee

ask p!nk
Am I right in thinking that we'll find out the results of the DNQs tonight?
Am I right in thinking that we'll find out the results of the DNQs tonight?

No, they will be revealed right after the grand final

My thoughts... first time listening to most of these.

01. Cyprus - "Replay"

Oh my, this really is a 'Fuego' rip-off. Still rather good but she nor the song doesn't live up to last year's performance. 7/10

02. Montenegro - "Heaven"

Liking the ethnic-tinged drop, the song got better as it went along too though it's a bit on the cheesy side. Wouldn't have minded seeing this give them another Q after so many years though. 6/10

03. Finland - "Look Away"

So this one obviously I'm very familiar with being a Darude fan. Sebastian's live vocal was better than I expected considering his previous performance that I watched. Love the song too of course, shame it didn't get to Q but was expecting it not to. 9/10

04. Poland - "Fire of Love"

Nice and upbeat, liking the accents and outfits too. 6/10

05. Slovenia - "Sebi"

Great to have a non-English song already, she sounds sweet and the atmospheric production really suits it too. 8/10

06. Czech Republic - "Friend of a Friend"

Rather groovy song, best staging of the night so far too. This should be able to get them back in the final surely? 7.5/10

07. Hungary - "Az én apám"

Well this just sounds like if Ed Sheeran was from Eastern Europe. Dull. 4/10

08. Belarus - "Like It"

Woo, a bop! Didn't expect her to actually hit those high notes either. 8/10

09. Serbia - "Kruna"

She's got a great voice but the song and staging are very average. The strings and guitar in the production save it from being a 5 though. 6/10

10. Belgium - "Wake Up"

And we have our first weak vocalist of the contest, surprised it took this long to get here. At least the song's a bit more interesting than Hungary's, but I'd rank it higher if not for his vocal. 4/10

11. Georgia - "Keep on Going"

Don't enjoy this guy's vocals either. Or the backing opera vocals. It's very Eurovision though and is unique in this semi at least. :lol: 5/10

12. Australia - "Zero Gravity"

Well I can see why this is supposedly a fan fave, the operatic vocals actually work well on this too and the staging... wow! 9/10

13. Iceland - "Hatrið mun sigra"

Ooh some industrial techno with shouty vocals, not what I was expecting from Eurovision. :lol: Odd entry but I really liked it. 9/10

14. Estonia - "Storm"

And onto a track that is more than a little reminiscent of Avicii, which I predictably like a lot too. 9/10

15. Portugal - "Telemóveis"

More Eastern European sounding and boppy than I expected for Portugal, which makes it better than most of their entries - liking the sound of it! 7.5/10

16. Greece - "Better Love"

Weak vocal, bland song. I suppose that good run of entries had to end soon then. And not this being a supposed fan favourite too. -_- 5/10

17. San Marino - "Say Na Na Na"

Not this guy again, and actually qualifying this time. :lol: Can't they get someone who can actually sing to represent them? Gets a 6 for being fun novelty though. 6/10

That's pretty good going on the whole anyway, glad to have 7/10 and most of my top 5.

I've not heard the song (or indeed any of the others this year bar Sweden via the Melfest final and Cyprus via it being randomly played on plug.dj) but disappointing to see Conan not making the final - I've been holding out to hear the songs live for the first time in the final and I was looking forward to that based on how much I liked the other song of his that Pavel sent to BJSC. </3

At least the other one I was particularly hyped for (Iceland) has made it, and I'm happy for San Marino too though I have no idea what to expect from that xx

(I will listen to the DNQs separately at some point as I did last year)

Getting both San Marino and Slovenia through as the last two qualifiers was such a moment. A really good set of results all in all I thought. The dross was cut and there wasn’t anything cut that I’m really that upset about not hearing again.

Kate obviously my highlight. Absolutely living for Iceland as well. I always support Slovenia so seeing them have back to back qualifications makes me so happy.

Draw:

* Greece: 1st half

* Belarus: 2nd half

* Serbia: 2nd half

* Cyprus: 1st half

* Estonia: 2nd half

* Czech Republic: 1st half

* Australia: 2nd half

* Iceland: 2nd half

* San Marino: 1st half

* Slovenia: 1st half

Only 3 second half slots remain.

I guess the second semi finalist would want to be revealed last as qualifiers, as there is seven 1st half spots and three 2nd half spots left now

Estonia and Czechia have done OK on iTunes but nothing major like other years.
