Surely this can't go on much longer!?

No it can't go on much longer. We'll see what happens in the next two weeks with Bury.

Bury's away fixture against Rotherham on Tuesday has been suspended by the English Football League - their fifth successive game to be called off.
Bolton's game tomorrow night has been postponed because of concerns over the players' welfare. They were thumped 5-0 on Saturday with a side made up mostly of academy players.
Welfare?

I'm not sure whether it refers to the physical welfare of teenagers playing two matches in a few days against vastly superior opposition or the effect on their confidence. Bear in mind that Bolton's plight is nothing to do with the academy players.

Yeh that's what first came into my head and was wondering if that would be the case.

Bolton Wanderers are on the brink of liquidation after the latest takeover deal to buy the club collapsed.

The League One club has until 17:00 BST on Tuesday to complete the sale or offer reasons for an extension, or face expulsion from the EFL.

The Football League have already said that only one team would drop out of League 2 if Bury were thrown out, If both Bolton and Bury go, that would probably mean no teams relegated from League 2.

Bury are facing expulsion from the English Football League after the company attempting to buy the club, C&N Sporting Risk, said it was unable to proceed with its takeover.

The League One Shakers had been given until 17:00 BST on Tuesday to complete the deal.

Bury would become the first team to drop out of the EFL since Maidstone's liquidation in 1992.

The EFL said it "continues to be in discussions" ahead of the deadline.

Pretty unsavoury countdown timer on sky sports news for the time when they would go out of business. They're part of the problem after all!

Bury have been expelled from the Football League. :(

Awful news to hear.

A dark day for English football.

This is very sad to hear, which league are Bury going to end up in now?

I can imagine that if they go completely out of business then a new fan made version of team will be created like what happened to Halifax Town & Aldershot FC.
