My first thought at seeing Chasing Cars that high was that one of the band members had died.

Glad that’s not the case.

I love Chasing Cars

I've got the news on right now and there's an entire package around the 'Chasing Cars' news, playing clips of both that and 'I Gotta Feeling'.

An impressive iTunes resurgence! My first thought was Love Island as well

Chasing Cars really was unavoidable for a good few years so I'm not surprised it's on top of that list.. surprised it's managed to surge into the iTunes top 5 though, I wonder if it'll get a big Spotify boost too.

Interestingly, it was also the #1 most played 10 years ago.

1. Chasing Cars - Snow Patrol (2006)

2. Shine - Take That (2006)

3. I Don't Feel Like Dancin' - Scissor Sisters (2006)

4. Love It When You Call - The Feeling (2005)

5. About You Now - Sugababes (2007)

6. Rule The World - Take That (2007)

7. You're Beautiful - James Blunt (2004)

8. I Predict A Riot - Kaiser Chiefs (2004)

9. Can't Get You Out of My Head - Kylie Minogue (2001)

10. Crazy - Gnarls Barkley (2006)

I'm actually surprised it's still the #1 most played song, it's been surprisingly easy for me to avoid it for quite a few years now. Have definitely heard 'I Gotta Feeling' and 'Happy' more, but I suppose Snow Patrol had several years of headstart.

K @ a song getting this much of a sales boost for literally being named as the most overplayed song 🙃

10 great songs there, good taste.

Love that The Feeling song  Their first album was brilliant! O imagine it's probably out of the top 20 now though!

I only really like 3 on that list lmao. The rest I would be happy to never hear again though

bizarre to see The Feeling in that top 10, did it really get so much airplay? OK-ish song but nothing spectacular and did just ok also in the charts
Keane - Everybody's Changing and Katy Perry - Roar feel like the the most overplayed tracks I can think of not to feature in the top 10.

That's the list for the last decade so well before 'Roar' was released :P we seem to only have the top 3 of the new 'list' that's being reported about atm.

Oh Lorde! *facepalm*

I did actually skim-read the article too and still didn't get that.

I don't recall hearing Love It When You Call that much on the radio at all. Maybe it's just one of those songs that was rinsed at the time of its release and then for a couple of years after but that radio subsequently completely forgot, like Lene Marlin's Sitting Down Here or Tin Tin Out's Here's Where The Story Ends.
Yes, I remember hearing Love It When You Call a lot on the radio in the 2000s but very little since!
It's strange that Love It When You Call was the most played of their songs when all three previous singles (Sewn, Fill My Little World and Never Be Lonely) all charted higher and were Top 10 hits. They were a very radio-friendly band though, I remember Rosé being played all the time too, even though that only made #38.

Fill my Little world is the one I remember the most, that was far catchier and more radio friendly that Love it when you Call

what about Keane? didn't they got lots of airplay too?

I'm pretty shocked to see Chasing Cars being that high from just a news stat that's circulating.

2. Snow Patrol - Chasing Cars

25. Snow Patrol - Chasing Cars

36. JP Cooper & Astrid S - Sing It With Me

41. Beyoncé - Spirit (From Disney's "The Lion King")
