#1 on TTH? This is so ridiculous, if NRO had that kinda promo...

There’s no way this can be a hit if NRO never properly took off. Such a step down and a huge disappointment
It's totally forgettable, I've listened like 10 times and can't remember anything about it! Nothing like NRO :cry: I don't know what she was thinking, lightning definitely doesn't strike twice. NRO was THE hit that got away

TTH is a US playlist though, NRO had amazing TTH support, it was #1 a few times. Support wasn't as good on HHUK.

Idk but everybody was saying NRO was just to build hype and that this would be the "real" smash with tons of promo - which would be a waste to say the least!

 

And somebody on another forum said she'd be doing interviews in the UK to promote this so it definitely seems that way, NRO got nothing. I don't know why people on this forum have to be so pedantic and confrontational when it's pretty obvious NRO had very little promotion whether it was briefly #1 on a playlist or not <_<

Small Talk is very cute! I'm happy with it, I'll certainly be using it and bopping away for the rest of the summer :cool:

 

Never Really Over was a triumph of a song, but I wasn't really after part 2 - I'm happy with a different vibe this time. This is "lighter" sounding (even though the subject matter is actually quite sad).

 

My favourite part of the song is:

We went from strangers to lovers to strangers in a lifetime

Now just memories"

 

Not quite sure about the "blah blah blah" section, but it is very Katy and to be fair it does fit the mood of feeling like there's nothing of substance left to say with an ex.

Definitely doesn’t sound as big as NRO but she’s in a much better position now than she was when that was released. Completely agree with Jay, the pre-chorus is gorgeous.

It's a brilliant song! I can understand disappointment following the soaring pop anthem that is Never Really Over, but this is a great follow-up. Melodically strong, distinctive enough to stand out and still very Katy. I think this could appeal more to the GP than NRO!
The queen of inconsistency strikes again. Underwhelming after NRO which showed her back on form.
It's alright and all, it's nowhere near her best but definitely a whole lot better than her worst moments.
