Posted July 30, 20195 yr With 14 entries on the Billboard Hot 100, Ellie becomes the British female artist with the most chart hits in the US, surpassing Adele!!!!
July 31, 20195 yr I'd never have guessed that! :o I had no idea Ellie was particularly popular in the US. Pretty remarkable achievement!
July 31, 20195 yr Wow, I'm surprised! Even surpassing Adele, I never knew that. Congratulations to Ellie!

July 31, 20195 yr Yeah, Ellie has always been a US fave with a strong following! I knew 'Lights' was randomly huge there and figured songs like 'Love Me Like You Do' and 'I Need Your Love' would have been big, but I didn't think any following she had there would be enough to give her as many as 14 Billboard Hot 100 hits. Well done to Ellie!
July 31, 20195 yr Author Here’s her full US chart history! #2 Lights #3 Love Me Like You Do #13 On My Mind #13 Burn #16 I Need Your Love #24 Close To Me #29 Outside #43 Something In The Way You Move #47 Anything Could Happen #67 First Time #82 Hate Me (so far) #83 Powerful #88 Beating Heart #100 Explosions
August 1, 20195 yr I completely forgot Explosions charted here! Something In The Way You Move so close to top 40 </3
August 1, 20195 yr wow, never realised but yes UK female artists have never been very successfull in the US for long periods and Ellie could have had a further one, since Still Falling For You peaked at #102 well #2 bubbling under
August 1, 20195 yr I completely forgot Explosions charted here! Something In The Way You Move so close to top 40 </3 Should have been the lead single — still think that campaign would have been very different if so
August 1, 20195 yr Should have been the lead single — still think that campaign would have been very different if so I actually disagree :o I know On My Mind isn't popular on here but it's one of her best remembered hits and was big both here and in the US! I'm not sure SITWYM would've done much better as a lead though I do think it shouild've been 2nd single (pushing Army back to 3rd).
August 1, 20195 yr Author Agree with joseph here! I don’t think SITWYM could’ve managed top 5 in the UK and top 15 in the US!

I'm not convinced and would say it's been largely forgotten about, especially in the UK. Agree with joseph here! I don’t think SITWYM could’ve managed top 5 in the UK and top 15 in the US! I think it is short-sighted to just look at how it charted when her hype was so immeasurable at the time — any lead (unless a complete disaster) would have been some kind of success. It was a divisive risk and the album struggled, despite all that hype and goodwill, because the wrong song was chosen. I'm not saying Delirium or Or My Mind didn't succeed, but they definitely didn't do what the label was expecting. Something in the Way You Move was instant, sounded like a massive radio single, and was still Ellie enough whilst pushing her sound further into big pop-girl territory. It even managed decent radio play in the US — despite the messy release, that video, the confusion with Army, and Interscope pulling the plug on it. Perhaps it wouldn't have done as well in the US (although who knows, look at Lights), but I do think the album would have fared better long-term.
August 1, 20195 yr I'm not convinced and would say it's been largely forgotten about, especially in the UK. It got a better crowd reaction at the Summertime Ball than Burn and I Need Your Love (plus Close to Me and Sixteen which isn't so surprising), only Love Me Like You Do got a bigger reaction! Worth bearing in mind that this is mostly a crowd of casuals too as opposed to Ellie stans. I understand why it's divisive but it's definitely a favourite of the general public.
August 3, 20195 yr You'd never know, as she's learned from Tasha Bedingfield and Joss Stone and doesn't go on and on aboot it! Adele and Spice Girls are obviously bigger there though.
August 3, 20195 yr Let me know when she gets their sales and pop culture recognition x Errone needs to learn from her though and keep their American success on the d-low in UK and not make it a huge marketing thing, as it turns people off and they flop!
