So having just watched it barring Anita, none of the others really got into snatch game.

 

Etcetera and Kita did slightly ok, but the rest were all a bit meh

Art was NOT happy :lol: I do think her going was right based on the episode, Coco won that lipsync. Art clearly felt she was going to cruise through everything, but you cannot come to Snatch Game with a character/performance that bad.

 

I really don't think the Snatch Game was that bad! Certainly not great but not the worst ever, just kinda meh. My thoughts:

 

Anita - easily the winner, kind of what Blu did with Mary Berry in UK1 but so so much better because it actually pertained to the Queen, had some of her characteristics, and had some dark humour to push it that bit further right over the top, the Diana joke!!

 

Etcetera - I thought this was f***ing HILARIOUS, a bit one note with a character like that but she took that note and used every opportunity, "I stepped away to heat up a can of beans" K I L L E D me omfg, pushing the lines of what's acceptable, the poor woman, but that's so Aussie humour to me and she was my solid runner-up. I would so much rather somebody did a bit of an out there character than just chose an icon and flatlined.

 

Kita - actually not too bad, I was expecting a train wreck and it was a bit awkward but I did commend how she committed to the rhyming thing and didn't just let it go, it was a different take on Snatch Game and something we've not seen.

 

Art - people are kidding themselves saying she shouldn't have been bottom, it's Snatch Game!! There was not a single iota of character or personality in that, I suppose she at least had some form of concept with the lewd "jokes" (which might have been passable had any of it been funny) but I have no idea what that has to do with Bindi Irwin?! Had she done that and been funny, I'd maybe have said swap her and Karen, but it wasn't funny nor was it a good impersonation. A good runway can't save that.

 

Coco - just about worse than Art by virtue of there being NOTHING to it, like absolutely NOTHING

 

Maxi - a dead on Lynne Postlethwaite, just not funny. At least that's half the challenge fulfilled, which is more than can be said for the bottom 2 and Karen.

 

Elektra - I think she was pretty good, sure it wasn't a GREAT impersonation but she did commit to it, it was getting there and I think that it's so so hard to nail the idiosyncrasies of Moira, and she did a pretty good job with what she did come up with. Putting her low for a basic runway is some bullshit, I thought she was among the best in the actual Snatch Game behind Anita and Etc personally.

 

Karen - I think you just do NOT do Dolly unless you are absolutely 100% on her, and Karen was barely even 10%, I suppose she had the look that's about all I can say about it. Not even an accent, her giggle, anything.

 

Scarlet - judges nailed it, it was... getting there. Like she did JUST enough but absolutely not a bit more.

 

The judging was just really really bizarre, to have them all as low placements, but then give Elektra in particular good comments for her Snatch Game. Plus like Ru was laughing throughout Snatch Game then acts like only Anita was even good at all? Don't get me wrong it was an underwhelming Snatch Game but it wasn't a train wreck and that's what the placements kinda made it look like.

Absolute trainwreck episode. But it went round to so bad it's good, for me.

 

Using that lipsync song and not using the S12 girls' lyrics felt kind of sacriligeous. Like, Ru's lyrics were A LOT worse.

 

The Queen Elizabeth jokes landed even more darkly now her husband has died. But Anita bodied this episode. I did think Lindy Chamberlain was close to the bone just because she is still alive and just a normal member of the public. If she had actually been a criminal, fair play. But she wasn't.

 

I genuinely think if the stage had been bigger they would have had a bottom 6 lipsync. Well. Karen would probably be shielded because she's the obvious Ru-fave.

Although she wasn't great, I felt a tad sorry for Karen as she clearly had the least screentime there in that snatch game. I'm sure she only spoke four times, and one of those was the opening line every celebrity gets. She was only asked for her answer once and had to resort to "adding" to another celebs answer.

This is only what’s shown though- it’s not that Ru will have spoken to her one during filming- it’s that they only decided to show her once in the edit they released of the snatch game. The unedited version of Snatch Game has 8 rounds with each contestant answering every single question which they obviously will not show!

Absolutely agreed! Kita is SUCH a joy bless her soul! Scarlet winning was odd like her runway was good and she did do good in the challenge so deserved the top but Anita and Kita had so much more presence in the challenge.

There was WAY more Kita screentime this episode than Anita this episode- Kita was probably the most regular confessional queen this episode actually? Maybe Karen but Kita seemed to get a lot of airtime she’s fab!

What on EARTH was that judging?! Leaving aside Scarlet's past to look at what she did today only, I guess I get her winning since she had the stronger team as a unit and she was the one who held them together, which would have made more sense had they judged in teams and singled out her team. But they didn't, if you look at individual performance, which they did, then Anita had the best verse but honestly... Elektra ATE?! I really am baffled as to how "you outshone" is a criticism now. If we're gonna judge individually, I'd have given Kita or Anita the win for their verses and even though Anita did mess up a little, she just worked it in and covered it up with her personality so that you didn't care about that. I think if you look at individual performances, Scarlet was very much a solid safe placing girl group challenge performance.

 

Maxi and Karen were the clear bottom 2 here, Karen gave absolutely NOTHING and her verse was just so boring, for somebody with so much camp personality about her, there was none of that in there. And even if you look at Elektra as the team captain who should have held everything together, that's fine, that's why I wouldn't necessarily give her the win, but there is absolutely no chance she should have been bottom over Maxi and Karen. Their verses and performances even if you do look at it that way were not her fault. I think everyone bar those two did pretty well so it was an easy bottom 2, idk who'd I'd have put low. I'd have just put those two in the bottom bottom, Anita or Kita win with the other and Scarlet/Elektra high, everyone else safe.

 

The New Zealand girls are all my faves tbh, I love Etc too but she's not really being given much airtime. Karen I want to like a lot more than I do, it feels like her name precedes her and I know it's only episode 3 but it feels like she's being protected with her track record inflated a bit, like being saved from the bottom this week and them just calling bullshit low placements last week when really it was only Karen who deserved to be down there.

In my eyes they've all been underestimating her this whole time and this is her thing and her time to shine.

 

I get that she could have choreographed them better, and made the whole group gel more, but like I said I think Maxi and Karen's verses and lack of energy is on them not Elektra. Kita still managed to stand out and own it so I don't know why they couldn't. Like I said her not being a great leader is why I wouldn't give her the win or possibly not even put her high but bottom 2 for it was ridiculous imo.

It's like they have some sort of vendetta against Elektra at this point... What I don't quite get is the 'you shouldn't stand out!!1' critique whilst giving some queens who steal the spotlight a pat on the head. I get it's a girl group thing but also it wasn't like had some crazily different choreo, she just literally stood out because of her performance. I don't get the bottom 2 placement.

 

And the 'basic bitch' critique... okay, then why Etcetera is not in the bottom since she literally only wore a onesie-hoodie or whatever that was + huge nails?

The two queens of color being out in the first 3 weeks and bottom every single week is.... not a good look for a part of the world that has a lot of stereotypes of being racist.

I'm starting to quite dislike this season, unfortunately. The judging is very strange, Elektra was clearly one of the stand-outs and I am getting tired of the constant bashing of her, especially when it comes to runway. She literally said she doesn't have money this week, but ofcourse Ru only thinks you are talented if you spend 50.000 dollar on your looks. It's become so elitist which is not what drag should be about at all.

 

Most of the queens are quite unlikeable as well and I can't just forget about Karen's racist past, so warming up to her is never going to happen.

 

And why are they messing up with all the guests. They have had so many big names already, which is great, but only giving them 30 seconds via a webcam is strange. Why not make them guest judges?
