Human Rights are inherent - they *cannot* be legitimately taken away.

The Human Rights *Act* however is just legislation, and can be amended/repealed by any gov't, especially if it is being abused in some way, e.g. to prevent deportation of dangerous convicted criminals...

Oh dear, that cat story is about to make a comeback.

I have no idea what you are talking about.

That's the one.

I should point out that I could not possibly be influenced by a story I had no knowledge of.

I only visit the BBC site for Sports & Weather.

The human rights the Tories have been desperate to strip? Thr human rights the papers have used as an excuse to leave the eU? The human rights the Tories say we don't deserve because of some god reason? Those ones?

Chris quoting his 'human rights' in his post (only saw it as it was in your response Algernon - I can't see his posts first-hand thankfully) did make me chuckle! I can't wait for Chris to post and comment on his first week in work after we leave the EU - it'll be some sort of small compensation! Having said that - people like Chris will always find a way to sit on his backside and do nothing ... and get paid for it.

What are you talking about? They are not inherent. If they were, legislation would not be needed! The Tories and right wing press have been screaming about stripping them. They screamrd and scrramed about leaving the EU TO STRIP THEM

I couldn't believe it! He really is clueless.

HOW could you not have been aware of that story? It's so notorious.

Vidcapper should go back in time and tell the Victorian chartists and the workhouse poor, forced into slavery by the rich establishment families, that their human rights are inherent and that they don't need to legislate anything or protest  The Tories will protect those rights!

BY *not* reading of it - did I not mention that?

Plus, it's 8 years old - I didn't post to the N&P forum back then.

I'm not surprised you refer to the 19thC - that's the era where your failed Marxist ideas come from.

Yes, as a response to the evil capitalist ideas of the elite you so laud

Good news. However, Boris isn't going anywhere(although he absolutely should). There will be no calls from right wing media for him to step down and sadly I think this will only make him poll stronger. :(

We live in plutocracies now, not democracies. The righr wing media will protect their supreme leaders no matter what. Trump has a Watergate scandal, Bojo LIED TO THE QUEEN, but the media will downplay it all. These career-ending corruption shenanigans will do nothing.

The fsr right media should be careful. It has just massively raised the limit of what is acceptable - for both sides of the aisle. Oops.

Unanimous by the judges too.

Predictably Laura Kuenssberg on Twitter immediately pivoted to try and make the story about Corbyn being incompetent. The woman is paid 250k p/a to report the news impartially...
