It certainly deserved more success than it achieved, if Kylie had released the song it would have gone top 10 easily. Sounds like something that could be on Body Language.
Was Geri next in line for Some Girls?! But her voice doesn't match the sultry high pitched song at all
It's a terrible song and video. No wonder it tanked. Mind you, I don't think she would have gotten much success by that time anyway, unless she could have provided something like It's Raining Men and it also be attached to a main mainstream movie like It's Raining Men.

She was blacklisted by Radio at the time of Desire and I do feel that affected it to a large extent.

I think with their support it would've been a low top ten. It's a good electro pop tune but not really Geri at all. Love Never Loved Me would've been the better choice and she now knows it too.

I find it underrated too, it’s decent! She had just fallen out of public favour and the media turned on her, I blame that on the Channel 5 documentary.
I want the leak of the version of "Some Girls" by Geri Halliwell
I actually really like 'Desire' lmao - possibly even my second favourite Geri song after 'Mi Chico Latino'? there's something about it

She never recorded it and I think Rachel did a good job with it

There's Something About Geri... bloody awful what a huge faux pas   :o

I don't understand all the choices in the poll, what does me+1 mean?

The first 2 choices are also Number 1, am i correct?

sorry, I thought she had recorded this song

I don’t think it’s close to being her worse song.

Live the express yourself references in the video .

Annie's song Me Plus One is about Richard X's experience with Geri when she was begging to record Some Girls.

It's hilariously bitchy and petty:

t's time to tell my story

of a girl I used to know

Always cried into her pillow

under pinups on the wall

She didn't make Italia Conte

didn't get that TV show

Then a nice man said he'd help her

with a new portfolio

Missus B Missus E Missus A-U-T

Missus I Missus F-you-L

I'm gonna reach the top

I ain't ever gonna stop

and I'm sure gonna ring your bell

Missus D Missus I Missus F-F-I

Missus C Missus U-L-T

If ever there's a girl

that could rock your world

Then that girl sure is me

(right!)

So the fun won't start til she's living it up

feeling good on top of the pops

Can you make it me plus one?

Dress falls down at the aftershow

She breaks down in the video

Think you'll find it's me plus one

Now this wannabe seniorita

met a group of likely girls

Traded posters and the voxpops

for jetting round the world

But it didn't make her happy

and now she flies alone

The wrong pictures in the paper

and no one back at home

The people around you

won't tell you how it is

Don't you think it's gone on long enough?

Take a look at yourself

Get out of the car

You know it's time

you've got to let it go

Some may remember clips of both Desire and Love Never Loved Me were released for a vote...to give the public a voice on the next single choice. I've always liked Love Never Loved Me better (and consider it the best track on the album). But. At the time...a lot of people sided with Desire because they thought it sounded more current. I kinda wonder if Love Never Loved Me was the one to be released...and it underperformed...would we all be looking at Desire as the great missed opportunity of her career today? She was likely going to be blacklisted by radio for whatever was released.

As for the song...I've always liked it. It's not her best single. It's not her worst. To my ears..Ride It, Love Never Loved Me, Desire and Let Me Love You More were the clear Passion singles. So. While I technically think there was a better song available...I don't think it's a travesty Desire was released. It's one of those songs I remember the fanbase liking a lot better before they saw the chart placing.

A quick note about There's Something About Geri. Looking back, it really is a strange thing. The reality TV of today always gets people being train wrecks in an entertaining way. There's Something About Geri really isn't that. There's nothing especially outrageous in it. Nothing so embarrassing that it should have abruptly ended her career. The only way I can describe it as is...persistently unflattering. It's not good TV. I'm not sure I follow why anyone would want to air it.

"Desire" is my favourite Geri's single and # 1 song from 2005 year.
