157. Gary Glitter - Rock & Roll Part 2 (featured in Joker movie)

170. Cream - White Room (Ginger Baker passed away)

People buying Gary Glitter even after what he’s done

Maybe after so many years on Buzzjack he’s come to associate my name with dance music. :kink:

Probably

To be fair I thought initially that Dan + Shay were kids TV presenters kink.gif

You might also think they are YouTube celebrities, because Dan + Shay is quite similar to Dan + Phil, who are also of former Radio 1 chart show fame.

They put a Gary Glitter song in a Joker movie??? Ok then...

That one song is popular at US sports games, where they probably don't know about what Gary did (or who he even is)

I highly doubt the producers of such a huge film are unaware of who Gary Glitter is lol.

How is his song still available? I thought everything wasn't available anyway? Is it on the actual soundtrack tracklisting to the movie, do we know?
I'm sure his work is still available , I listened to 'Another Rock and Roll Christmas' on Apple Music last December!
This all goes back to the 'can you separate the artist from the music' argument which has been discussed quite a few times on the forum, especially in light of the MJ documentary last year. Personally I can separate the two though I realise I'm in the minority. I don't really know many Gary Glitter songs but there are a couple of Lostprophets songs I like which I sometimes still listen to. Does this make me a bad person?
I'm not bothered about it either, liking a song they've created doesn't mean you condone what they have done in the past.

I'd say there's a difference between personally enjoying/listening to songs by bad people (I'd never listen to Gary Glitter or Lostprophets myself now, I'm usually fine with separating art from artist but those cases go too far for me (I liked a lot of Lostprophets' stuff before but it'd make me feel sick to listen to it now) but if other people can look past that then there's nothing wrong with that) and using it as part of the soundtrack to a massive blockbuster film and giving them pretty significant royalties. I've read the context for why the song is used in the film and I kind of get it? But I can't see that it's important enough that the film would be less impactful without using that scene or that particular song and essentially commercially endorsing the work of a horrific monster.

for me it depends of what they'd one

like Bono I Don't like him, he's a moron and an idiot, but still can listen to U2, no problem

but I'd never ever listen to the Lostprophets and give money to the guy after what he's done I'm not gonna make him richer

we were talking about separating the person and the artist, you can dislike an artist and doesn't have to be cos something sexual they've done
