It just goes to show that either we should remain, or go the Norway route. Ripping us out when there is the most division in the country on thr issue since the civil war is just dictatorial. If this weren't the modern era and were 200 etc years ago, this would have been a civil war.

I wouldn't say there's that much division now. From reading other forums, remainers seem to be reluctantly accepting that we're leaving now and that nothing can be done about it. I'd say most ordinary people have more on their minds like, bills, where to go next on holiday, families etc.

The division runs deep.

Says who though? Is that your own personal opinion. I think most people don't really care any more. There are far more important things in life after all. Life will go on much the same as it is now after 31st. Jan.

And yet there is so much vitriol, so many entrenched views, and the brexshit election should show you that ... people do care and they care more than ever. A little bit defeatism may help the brexshit tory lot over the line but then it's back on. And you have to face 80% youth remain over the years. 80% of the new generations want something and the old want something else. I wonder how that will turn out lol.

And who do you think they would they conscript if they ever needed bodies for that EU army - I bet the young wouldn't be so keen under those circumstances... :teresa:

It will? Then what was the fuss all about?

Try being a migrant and it's pretty rubbish, losing your rights and trying to stay in the country you call home and all that. Waiting on an email today to decide whether I can be hired in my spite of my soon-to-be non-EU nationality - this is lifechanging.

What I want to know now more than anything, and what has made me irrevocably bitter, is how Leave voters' quality of life will be improved, because it certainly hasn't helped mine.
There are no plans for a EU army, just more cooperation between the seperate armies of member states

If people were as resigned to this idiocy as you claim, why would every poll conducted over the last year or two show a majority for Remain?

OK...

And do you think the Labour young will rush into a Bojp and Trump war? Lol. I see no problem with a voluntary EU defence army, but it's not a thing

I'm so sorry the football politics lot have done this to you :(

Football politics lot?

I mean yeah, he has a point actually. Whether it's those from both sides who just want their gang to win, or whether it's those who try to play the peacemaker and post dumb memes like below, it's pretty infuriating when it becomes clear that they might experience a huge amount of elation or despair on election night, but for them, they're lucky enough that their life will go unchanged whether their 'team' does well or not.

Of course nothing it’s going to change on Feb 1st. Mainly because we will be an EU member state in all but name. Absolutely disingenuous for any brexiteer to act as if it’ll all be fine because the transition arrangement has kicked in. Problems come 1st Jan 2021 at the end of the transition when BoJo has f***ed it on a free trade deal.

I feel for you mate. How is your country’s version of the EU Settlement Scheme going? The State of Berlin has stopped inviting people to meeting to sort their status until the Federal Government has decided what to do :drama:

I guess the thing to hold onto is those transition rights where we are still effectively EU nationals for 11 more months

Not great! We can apply for a visa from 1st February, but if you've been here for less than 5 years and on a temporary contract, then they only last as long as your work contract does (and when the contract ends in June is exactly when I will need it, so I can prove that I do indeed have the right to live and work here), and you also have to have a minimum income which I don't meet yet!

Oh god! This is awful. And all to please people like Chris and Vidcapper so they can feel as if they won!
