by 2024 there will be more renters than owner-occupiers in the UK.

Wow that's an astonishing fact Steve. In Europe though it's more popular to rent than it is to buy. Renting outstrips owner-occupiers in countries like Italy, Germany and France. Well last figures I saw it did.

I cannot believe I'm waking up to the PM threatening a broadcaster's remit because he wouldn't stand on stage to be debated. There's a word for that, state censorship.

In any case, this (by which I mean the original 2020 election) should have been the election for climate change where all of the parties competed on the best methods to tackle it domestically AND internationally. It should be the #1 issue. Any party not taking it seriously should be ashamed of themselves.

I just don't think the Conservative Party have any credible answers on climate change.

They've done b*gger all to help with building net zero new homes (possible, as demonstrated by the Labour/Green run Norwich City Council and its recent Riba Stirling Prize). They've removed the subsides for solar and continued to back fracking - though notably in Labour voting areas such as Lancashire and not their precious Surrey.

Unfortunately for the CONS in order to tackle climate change they'd have to turn against their major backers - the house-builders/property speculators, the energy industry, the car industry... and who knows maybe capitalism itself.

We all know that would never happen.

The mad thing is - energy is literally Free. It comes out of the sun, for free. Ok some infrastructure is required, blah, blah, but think how powerful solar energy could be in Africa for instance. It is maddening!
Now now everything can be brought and sold by these capitalist scoundrels!
I see you decided NOT to be serious and just repeat right wing lies and be pedantic. Great! x M and N are right next to each other on qwerty keyboards. Do the maths. Also, not conspiracies if they're true. Sorry.

What does Canada have to do with dodos anyway, they were from Mauritius!

Well done for completely missing the point. Again.

I'm sorry if my preference for democracy over violence bothers you...

Yes it's not good at all. :(

It's sad that the message is controlled in such an Orwellian way. :(

What are you on about? You responded to a comment about the overwhelming right-wing bias of the media with a glib comment about there being an election, thereby completely missing the point.

My mistake. Unfortunately for you , Mauritius was also a British colony, to be more pedantic than you x So can we stop talking about glib comments and discuss THE REAL ISSUE?!

What has Mauritius got to do with this election and polls?

Well, now that you mention it, we should have already given back the Chagos Islands but the Tories are too busy dodging the Mauritian phone calls because they dream of a time when small island nations didn't demand their rightful territory from British overlords.

The Tories are said to be jittery this weekend and scared of four things now. Big strategy meeting today with all the party big-wigs.

1. Trump's visit. They're worried this may have a negative effect especially if he says something stupid. They're hoping he keeps his mouth shut.

2. They're frightened that the Yougov MRP poll that indicated a large Tory majority will actually have a negative effect on them and make some of their voters stay at home especially if it rains that day.

3. It looks likely that the Brexit Party still standing will help Labour retain some seats:

4. The narrowing of the recent polls, however slight, is worrying Central Office.

This election seems to be coming down to 'who do you *least* want to see in #10'?

Yes it seems that way now. None of them can really afford any slip-ups.

Anyone see the ITV debate? Was pretty embarassing for Farage. There were some good points and moments. Hopefully it'll help to swing the polls in favour of all parties but Brexit/Conservative.
I got a begging letter from Bojo. I knew he was after the north east seats  f*** OFF!!
That's ALWAYS the case in an election run on the FPTP system.

Though this is complicated when there are multiple seats of very different character, where animosity to leaders may be irrelevant on a tactical basis, and in contests where more than 2 parties are in contention.
