7 newies plus Halsey re-entering at 40

So you are including re-entries, I wouldn't.

Still very impressed with how many new entries we've been having over the last few weeks regardless, a big improvement on what we had this summer!

Surprised Snow Patrol is outselling Ball and Boe, though they may be more consistent sellers through the week so may overtake

I am surprised Snow Patrol are as high, a Top 5 finish and i will be happy for Snow Patrol as i thought this album may struggle.

The Script have a 5th Number 1 album in the bag.

I had hopes of Niall Horan, Jax Jones and Ella Henderson in the Top 15 today but both showing signs of a new peak position.

Surprised that The Script are so comfortably ahead, I thought it'd be pretty close between them and Ball/Boe even if they did get the #1. Ball/Boe not even #2! (although I think they'll hold up better than Snow Patrol so might climb to #2 if it's close).

Oops at Dave already dropping out of the top 10! Might end up just being a low top 20 hit like '47' at this rate. Great to see Niall as high as #16, fingers crossed he'll stay in the top 20 #pippa. Cool to see Endor heading for the top 40 too (yet another unoriginal dance song becoming a hit but this one is one of the better ones) and Darkoo hopefully set to climb in by the end of the week too. Much higher quality bunch of new entries than last week. Also lower down I see Bring Me The Horizon at #72, hope they'll manage to hang onto a top 100 debut (since atm the only song from the Death Stranding soundtrack that's charted is the worst one (Major Lazer/Khalid) :') CHVRCHES' song should have been a 'hit' but I'll take BMTH getting one xx)

FKA twigs only #15 in the album chart is a bit disappointing, seems like it won't even outpeak her last album despite the great reviews this album has got.

I don't think I'll ever stop being crossed to see all those urban tracks storming easily in the chart based on basically just streams alone (and often artist's name), while the songs I'm more familiar with usually struggle to get a first week impact.

No.39 in the album chart is of course Gene Clark (ex Byrds) and not Gene Kelly.

It is a truly stunning album, almost ignored back in the day when it came out.

Isn't George Michael flopping a bit? Surely his label thought that it'd do better?

It's only got one new song though hasn't it? I suspect it could climb as more people see the film, although reviews seem to be mixed at best.

really surprised at how well Snow Patrol has started, was expecting a much lower entry considering it's quite a competitive week, was actually expecting Boe/Ball to be an easy #1 and Simply Red and the Last Xmas soundtrack both to be above Snow Patrol

I was about to say reviews for 'Last Christmas' have been pretty savage the whole way round.

To be fair, he wasn't that prolific even when he was alive!

Of course the film hasn't opened in the UK yet so the effect of the reviews on the album remains to be seen.

I wonder if it's just the packaging that's confusing?

I expected George Michael and Ball & Boe to be the top two this week with probably the latter at No.1.

Oh it should be big up to Christmas but the film isn't tipped to set box offices alight with a lot of competition to come with Star Wars, Jumanji etc.

Nice Irish top 2 albums although I can see snow patrol ending up number 3 or 4.

Feels like 1999 all over again when Bwitched, The Corrs, Boyzone and Westlife somehow dominated the charts before the end of a decade

Quite surprised to see neither George's new single or Last Christmas in the single chart.
