November 13, 20196 yr Her streaming sales are cut in half indefinitely unless someone on her team specifically requests for an SCR reset (and the OCC grant one). Same with all songs which are over 3 years old.
November 14, 20196 yr Her streaming sales are cut in half indefinitely unless someone on her team specifically requests for an SCR reset (and the OCC grant one). Same with all songs which are over 3 years old. Excuse my ignorance but I always wonder why more record companies don't request SCR, particularly for Christimas songs? It's obviously in their interest for the songs to chart higher. Or is it that the OCC don't dole out resets so readily?
November 14, 20196 yr Not sure, would make sense for Mariah this year. Hard for the OCC to argue against and she'd be guaranteed no1 for 2-3 weeks!
November 14, 20196 yr i really hoped George would be higher.... from next week wll be the Xmas racing and wham is gonna chart again and maybe they gonna help the album.
November 14, 20196 yr Not sure, would make sense for Mariah this year. Hard for the OCC to argue against and she'd be guaranteed no1 for 2-3 weeks! Is she actively promoting it this year? I thought that the label could only reset if it was being promoted as a single (so good as hell has been sent to radio/tv etc as the next single getting it the SCR). I know she has the walkers advert but that is hardly pushing this as a current single. Not heard if she has any other plans for it this year. Either way, it could probably still go #1 with its streaming points halved unless some big competition comes along. Wouldn’t mind another novelty song getting it. Only time of year they have any luck and Spotify isn’t always the safe indicator of what is #1.
November 14, 20196 yr She has re-released her Christmas album, but I think the song is still the same. Â Just thought OCC might see sense this year after the Sweet But Psycho fiasco where Mariah had the most sales and the most streams.
November 14, 20196 yr I would say she is actively promoting it due to the 25th anniversary, the new release of the Xmas album, the advert and the cd/vinyl/cassette release.
November 14, 20196 yr but even if she's promoting and releasing it as CD single, her label has to request it, it's not an automatic thing
November 14, 20196 yr ACR is inherently a dumb idea, but I think it would be even more messy if 1 or 2 Christmas songs were let off of it. It might not affect the order if Mariah is destined to be ahead of the pack anyway, but how do you explain to the layman that one Christmas song has an insurmountable advantage over the rest. Next year marks 20 years since Kirsty MacColl died, so if they were allowed to decide they want the #1 spot for "Fairytale Of New York", SCR would do the trick even if it's only the 3rd-5th biggest in reality. You may as well put them all on SCR but obviously that'll never happen. Edited November 14, 20196 yr by Dircadirca
November 14, 20196 yr but thats easy to explain, the track got re-promoted and that's why it's on normal ratio, it's not a random reset
November 14, 20196 yr Just thought OCC might see sense this year after the Sweet But Psycho fiasco where Mariah had the most sales and the most streams. She wasn't even top 10 on sales... :P
November 14, 20196 yr but thats easy to explain, the track got re-promoted and that's why it's on normal ratio, it's not a random reset Even that'll be a footnote in the grander scheme of its performance though. I'd sooner argue that it's re-promoted every single year anyway.
November 14, 20196 yr not even sure what the occ considers as promotion cos for instance Bohemian Rhapsody was kept at ACR despite the movie release so the same could happen to Last Xmas this time... even if the movie is out I see why the Lizzo singles were taken off ACR, as they were proper singles sent to radio and being playlisted
November 14, 20196 yr Lizzo is on X Factor on Saturday performing Good As Hell for the first time on UK TV. Could it still make Top 3?
November 14, 20196 yr I like some of the dance singles but the remake of Pump It Up shouldn't really exist. It was horrible first time around, it's horrible now.
November 14, 20196 yr ^Agree on that one and the saddest thing, it's by far the best of all the newies we have this week :/ if only the urban music fans listened to Frank Ocean instead of Fredo :D
November 14, 20196 yr Mariah was #78 yesterday according to Music Week It was a joke, albeit one designed to promote Carey’s (by now traditional) festive tour and Merry Christmas deluxe edition. But all the evidence suggests that – as with the sale of mince pies and the arrival of editorial letters about festive streaming – Christmas music is becoming a thing much sooner than it ever used to. As I write, Mariah's All I Want For Christmas Is You is mid-weeking at No.78 and there are still 42 days until the big day. That's a long time for Ms Carey to "keep on waiting underneath the mistletoe".
