Christmas no.1 was a huge deal because it was always a massive sales week with people buying CD singles as stocking fillers. I don’t think it’s been relevant in that way since about 2003. X Factor winners kept the sales high for another decade but really since music consumption became downloads, it just hasn’t been the same.

Fully understand its for charity and that's great but does it really need be released at Christmas every year and get to number 1. Would be fine being at number 2. Meh.
I'm not too fussed about this being number 1. But it's a bit annoying that I reckon the majority of people buying the song aren't even listening to it. At least 'Dance Monkey' was actually getting played and listened to.
I think streaming had more of a detrimental effect to the Xmas no 1 than downloads because it takes songs so long to peak now the 3-4 week build up for the Xmas mo1 isn't long enough. That's why Ladbaby is going for no1 and 99% of its sales will be downloads and not streams.
I must be totally missing something about this song (aside from the fact it’s for a great charity) - it’s #1 on Australian and USA iTunes!!
#3 in Australia and #25 in the US according to Kworb? (It did reach #1 in Australia and top 5 in the US on release though, he must just have some level of following outside the UK as well)
It would be hilarious if in 10 weeks time we were all desperate for this to go onto ACR because it was so huge.

If last year is to go by it'll thankfully only get 2 weeks top 40.

3000 CD singles featuring this and WBTC are being sold on his website for £2.99.

Couldn’t see it on his website - just loads of tatty old sausage roll themed merch

I heard this for the first time tonight at an exercise class and at least it’s a fun song, I wouldn’t mind it as Christmas number one this year. It’s for a good cause and upbeat and fun, it’s better than those boring Military Wives charity singles.

I’ve just bought a copy of the song.

Also, can we all take a moment to talk about how sexy Ladbaby is?

I can see him doing it again next year but with a feature. Either a big artist like Stormzy or the person who originally sang the song he's covering
