Great to see Talk sneaking into the Top 100 :D

Indeed, one of the youngest artists to make my chart! Though it took him until he was 17 to achieve his first #1 in my chart (which may or may not still be coming!). Pretty impressive for him to only be 19 yet be one of the strongest mainstays of my chart since his debut - he's had a top 10 every year since his debut! (2020 pending but I expect it won't be long before he puts another track out)

 I have strong memories of not realising she'd released a second album until I saw it in HMV - it was quite expensive for a CD in there but I bought it anyway  King of Anything was my instant favourite, deserved to be a global hit :(

84 Martin Garrix & Dua Lipa - Scared to Be Lonely | 2017 | EOY Peak: 10

85 Troye Sivan - My My My! | 2018 | EOY Peak: 8

87 James Bay - Hold Back the River | 2015 | EOY Peak: 9

88 The Saturdays feat. Flo Rida - Higher | 2010 | EOY Peak: xx

89 Isac Elliot - Mouth to Mouth | 2018 | EOY Peak: 26

90 Luke Friend - Hole in My Heart | 2015 | EOY Peak: 7

Luke Friend was my favourite contestant on X Factor in 2013, and his debut release Hole In My Heart was one of most anticipated singles ever. A great track and it sneaking a top 40 peak is still one of my favourite chart moments ever! I never thought Isac Elliot would top New Way Home, but Mouth to Mouth is the track I revisit the most. It finally gave Isac his first #1 in the very first week of 2018, having climbed from its debut of #12, and it MASSIVELY overperforms in this chart, having only made #26 in my 2018 EOY! A bunch of other EOY top 10s feature here, as well as "would have been" top 10s from 2010 including Cody Simpson and The Saturdays. Dua Lipa makes her first appearance of two with Scared to Be Lonely, her collaboration with Martin Garrix (who makes his second of two appearances). It's one of the most relatable and emotional tracks in the countdown for me, a truly special track! Also of note are a Greyson Chance b-side (and later special deluxe track only in Asia ), and One Direction's Kiss You, a track that ended up being split between 2012 and 2013 so featured in both EOYs. Its 2012 position was higher - in 2013 it made #23!

Linking a second Isac track in a row here, you can hear the growth in 4 years!

I was obsessed with Kiss You around the second half of my senior year in high school but then it burned on me pretty quickly

71 The Vamps feat. Shawn Mendes - Oh Cecilia (Breaking My Heart) | 2014 | EOY Peak: 9

72 Rita Ora - I Will Never Let You Down | 2014 | EOY Peak: 30

73 Ryan Lawrie - If Only | 2016 | EOY Peak: 4

74 Rox - My Baby Left Me | 2010 | EOY Peak: xx

75 Cheryl - I Don't Care | 2014 | EOY Peak: 2

76 The Vamps - Wild Heart | 2014 | EOY Peak: 5

77 Why Don't We - Trust Fund Baby | 2018 | EOY Peak: 5

78 Cheat Codes & Dante Klein - Let Me Hold You (Turn Me On) | 2016 | EOY Peak: 6

79 Alec Benjamin - Must Have Been the Wind | 2019 | EOY Peak: 8

80 Clean Bandit feat. Louisa Johnson - Tears | 2016 | EOY Peak: 8

An interesting section here as we see a couple of Vamps songs, swapping order from the 2014 EOY position, as well as the same year's #2 track - I Don't Care by Cheryl - notably underperforming. If I were to redo that EOY, I Don't Care would not have been so high. It's a great song, but 2014 had better! One of those songs is Rita Ora's I Will Never Let You Down, a HUGE overperformer spurred on by the Phoenix era and its associated tours. 2010's represented by Rox with My Baby Left Me - a song that deserved to be much bigger - and Why Don't We's first #1 in my chart is at #77. Also of note is 2016 EOY top 5 hit If Only from Ryan Lawrie, a song that was a minor top 10 hit in the middle of the year before becoming a huge smash when Ryan took part in X Factor that year. It joins a couple of my favourite dance tracks from the same year - Clean Bandit's sublime Tears, and Cheat Codes' surprisingly excellent reinvention of Kevin Lyttle's Turn Me On (and, dare I say, an improvement upon).

61 Avicii feat. Rita Ora - Lonely Together | 2017 | EOY Peak: 7

62 Alyssa Reid - The Game | 2012 | EOY Peak: 7

63 Justin Bieber - Sorry | 2015 | EOY Peak: 5

64 Mariah Carey feat. Miguel - #Beautiful | 2013 | EOY Peak: 8

65 Justin Bieber - What Do You Mean? | 2015 | EOY Peak: 6

66 Carly Rae Jepsen - Call Me Maybe | 2012 | EOY Peak: 8

67 Marcus & Martinus - Make You Believe in Love | 2017 | EOY Peak: 50

68 Ulrik Munther - Thousand Years | 2013 | EOY Peak: 17

69 Belle Amie - Girls Up | 2011 | EOY Peak: xx

70 Justin Bieber - Love Me | 2010 | EOY Peak: xx

An interesting mixed bag here, though perhaps not in terms of artist representation - Justin Bieber shows up three times  Dance-pop smashes Sorry and What Do You Mean? join early promotional track Love Me. Other chart hits include Lonely Together (Avicii's best position but Rita's second best), Call Me Maybe (still my favourite Carly track) and #Beautiful (Mariah's best showing) - the latter of which is very notable for peaking at #9 in my weekly chart and finishing at #8 EOY! There's also an Ulrik album track in the form of Thousand Years, the biggest non-top 5 hit in my chart's history, my most played song on last.fm from Belle Amie, and one of the most notable overperformers of my entire countdown - Make You Believe in Love by Marcus & Martinus was a reasonably fleeting #3 hit in my chart, #50 EOY, yet thanks to a continued presence in my listening habits, amazingly finishes at #67 here!

51 Anne-Marie - Ciao Adios | 2017 | EOY Peak: 4

52 Iggy Azalea - Work | 2013 | EOY Peak: 4

53 Cheat Codes feat. Demi Lovato - No Promises | 2017 | EOY Peak: 5

54 Kate Nash - Paris | 2010 | EOY Peak: xx

55 The Saturdays feat. Sean Paul - What About Us | 2013 | EOY Peak: 6

56 Alyssa Reid - Satisfaction Guaranteed | 2013 | EOY Peak: 7

57 Troye Sivan - WILD | 2015 | EOY Peak: 8

58 The Vamps - Can We Dance | 2013 | EOY Peak: 12

59 FO&O - Gotta Thing About You | 2017 | EOY Peak: 6

60 Lewis Blissett - Killing Butterflies | 2019 | EOY Peak: 7

The top 5 hits are starting to drop out more often now as we approach the top quarter of the countdown. Anne-Marie's Ciao Adios was never a #1 hit in my chart, but finished at #4 in 2017's EOY! The Saturdays' What About Us is similar, and is actually the longest running #1 my chart has seen. The rest have all peaked at #1, except Paris - that predates my chart but would undoubtedly have made it despite not being a single. The Vamps' debut release Can We Dance is their second highest, while fellow boyband FO&O's biggest track is at #59 - though Oscar's solo track I Love It is still to come. Three former BJSC artists of mine feature in this section too - Trevor Dahl (as 1/3 of Cheat Codes), Alyssa Reid, and Lewis Blissett, though only the latter appears with their actual entry. Troye Sivan's top song is at #57, and Iggy Azalea's third highest track is at #52 - her breakthrough song Work.

49 One Direction - Night Changes | 2014 | EOY Peak: 24

50 Iggy Azalea feat. Jennifer Hudson - Trouble | 2015 | EOY Peak: 4

More Iggy as her second highest track drops out at #50, also joined by the second highest tracks for froy, Cody Simpson and Cheryl in this section! G.R.L.'s huge pop anthem Ugly Heart posts a good showing, outdoing expectations, alongside As Long As You Love Me, which is Justin Bieber's top track. It's joined by The Vamps' best performer in the form of All Night, a surprisingly excellent change of sound for them back in 2016! Night Changes is the biggest overperformer here, though - its late release in 2014 led it to an unfortunately low EOY position of #24. It's the third highest One Direction track! Running Away just misses the top 40 - that was my very first BJSC entry back in 2012 and has the second longest chart run in my chart's history. Pretty impressive for a regional bonus track on his debut album...!

Just giving Running Away a listen - for about the first minute I was wondering who the featured female singer was but apparently it's just a very young Greyson Chance

Nice to see All Night so high as well, a brilliant song!

40 Bea Miller & 6LACK - it's not u it's me | 2019 | EOY Peak: 5

I remember Bea Miller on X Factor USA back in season 2, the same year as Fifth Harmony! I thought she was quite good and sort-of followed her music career post-show. I remember being quite impressed by her debut album, but didn't end up loving anything she put out. Until this, that is. I Shazam'd it's not u it's me when I was attending Zak Abel's gig at the Roundhouse - it was playing between the support slot and his own! It's still her only major hit, and unfortunately lost out to the #1 spot in my chart to 3 Nights by Dominic Fike - a chart regret.

39 Dua Lipa & BLACKPINK - Kiss and Make Up | 2018 | EOY Peak: 6

My favourite Dua Lipa song is interestingly one that isn't even a single. Kiss and Make Up was extremely instant, and I remember spending so much time listening on repeat. It became her second #1 in my chart, and BLACKPINK's first - also the first K-Pop #1 in my chart! It was also Dua's second EOY top 10, following Scared to Be Lonely getting to #10 in 2017.

38 Nicola Roberts - Beat of My Drum | 2011 | EOY Peak: xx

The debut single by Girls Aloud's Nicola Roberts took me by surprise on first play. I found it abrasive and not very enjoyable, but it VERY quickly grew, becoming one of the most essential tracks of 2011. It set the tone for her quirky, standout debut album, which also went on to soundtrack the year for me. Unfortunately, as per all 2010 and 2011 tracks, it has no EOY position, so Nicola's history below is a little bare...!

37 Cheryl - Call My Name | 2012 | EOY Peak: 8

A Girls Aloud double! Outperforming its EOY position, Cheryl's Calvin Harris-produced banger Call My Name kickstarted her third album campaign; A Million Lights is my favourite album of hers too. The track only got to #2 in my weekly chart, but an #8 peak in my revised 2012 EOY made up for it, and it's continued to hold up over the years.
