Interestingly, black on black was never made a single. It was left sitting on Greyson Chance's long-awaited sophomore album, but that didn't stop it making an impact. The effortlessly sexy track was a tour highlight, and Ellen DeGeneres called it her favourite on the album. It became the fourth highest charting track from the album upon release, trailing singles shut up and yours, and promotional single timekeeper. black on black ended up as the third highest charting track from the album when his portraits Tour saw the track re-enter at #4, and also ends as Greyson's third highest performer in my EOY.

39 Matteo Markus Bok - Shallow | 1-3-6-6-10-16-21-32-33-x-34-x

Yes, that's right - this is a cover of the Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper track. Matteo Markus Bok released the A Star Is Born cover at the end of 2018 and it served as the third single from his debut album Cruisin'. The original of Shallow only actually peaked at #18 in my chart, so I'm sure many of you will find it an injustice to see this cover version outpeak it, so let's delve into why. Matteo's name power was only growing for me, as this was the follow-up to In the Middle, a track that remains my favourite of his! The original proved to be a slow burner, hence the low peak, while this didn't have to battle against the tide and had instant appreciation. I still really love this version, and the original too.

Both fantastic songs there! Gaga and Cooper's version of Shallow is definitely a lot better, but Matteo's version is lovely! black on black is of course a TUNE and one of the best from portraits! *.*

38 Alexander Stewart - Best Damn Thing | 1-3-4-7-15-19-27-32-x

At the time of my 2018 EOY countdown, I knew only one Alexander Stewart song. Alongside a wealth of YouTube covers, he'd released an original track - Enamorado. It was a cute pop track, and it peaked at #4 in my chart, but I wasn't expecting him to return with a #1 hit in December. Best Damn Thing was my Christmas #1 of 2018, and what I loved so much about it was the production influenced by artists like Taylor Swift and Carly Rae Jepsen, as well as his strong vocals and catchy chorus. It proved to me that Alexander was one to watch, and sure enough, it kickstarted a very strong 2019 for him!

37 Ariana Grande - 7 rings | 3-1-2-8-13-15-22-23-26-37-x-35-x

Ariana Grande delivered a surprisingly excellent use of a Sound of Music sample in global smash 7 rings this year, but interestingly, it's not the first time I've enjoyed the same sample. I love Big Brovaz' Favourite Things as well, and I still think I prefer that over 7 rings, but that's not to say this isn't a brilliant track. Ariana delivered a completely unrelatable yet highly quotable anthem about spending money and living the life of luxury. It's undoubtedly my favourite track from the thank u, next album and one of two #1 singles that I shared with the UK chart in 2019!

36 Why Don't We - Unbelievable | 1-1-6-9-12-15-19-22-26-37-x

Release number five in 2019, Why Don't We's Unbelievable became their third track to spend more than a week at the top out of, at the time, seven #1s! Multi-week chart-toppers were a rarity throughout 2019 but Unbelievable held its own against the Eurovision onslaught, before being bumped down to #6 by a week of huge new entries at the end of May. Nevertheless, Unbelievable (and its lyric video where they run across the desert naked....!!!!) made a big impact and went down so well on tour too!

35 Alexander Stewart - Backwards | 1-3-7-10-15-22-29-33-35-x

Just one section after Best Damn Thing dropped out of the running, Alexander Stewart loses his highest placed track. Backwards became his second #1 single in March, becoming my 2019 birthday #1 single! It dethroned Oscar Enestad's I Love It from its second non-consecutive week at the top, and held off Rita Ora's Only Want You remix for a week, plus a further two new entries. Backwards shines through the strong melody in the chorus, mixed with Alexander's really strong voice. This is undoubtedly my top recommendation for anyone who hasn't heard one of his tracks yet!

34 froy - Crash | 2-3-7-15-15-23-26-33-35-39-x

Froy's middle release of the year is his first to drop, and annoyingly, it's the only track of the four he's released to have missed my #1 spot. To be fair, it was against Taylor Swift's ME! - the comeback of one of my all-time favourite artists, and it was a secure #1 that week, but Crash has clearly proved to have longevity in its favour as it's ended up twelve places higher! Crash is more uptempo than the two tracks either side (in release order), and goes to show Froy's skills as a versatile artist. More to come soon please!

33 Why Don't We - Come To Brazil | 1-3-4-6-10-17-24-30-35-39-x-33-x

Another Why Don't We song drops out, this time it's the sixth song of their 2019 releases. Come to Brazil got a "wtf?" reaction from me on first listen, mainly due to Jonah's accent on the chorus, but it quickly proved itself as a massive anthem and debuted at #1 in my chart, becoming their fourth of 2019, matching a record they previously tied in 2018 (and later went on to break in 2019) for most #1s in a calendar year. Come to Brazil was absolutely one of the biggest highlights of their tour setlist too - the new songs were basically one after the other at the end of the setlist and it made me appreciate them even more!

'Unbelievable' was my favorite WDW single of 2019 🙌 'Come To Brazil' would be 2nd x

My favourites since I last commented are certainly Look At Her Now, All Day & Night, Don't Call Me Angel, Mad Love & 7 Rings

Nice to see Paris in here. I've really gotten into Sabrina Carpenter over the last 12 months.

I really like Low Key, Don't Start Now, Find U Again, Me & Lover too :D

32 The Chainsmokers & 5 Seconds of Summer - Who Do You Love | 2-5-6-9-12-21-26-31-x

Quite possibly the most unlucky #2 hit of the year in a way, Who Do You Love seemed to be on course to provide the second #1 for each of The Chainsmokers and 5 Seconds of Summer. However, Oscar Enestad's I Love It dropped a day later and quickly put paid to any hopes of it making #1. Nevertheless, Who Do You Love effortlessly became the American EDM duo's biggest hit, and cemented itself as yet another smash hit for the Australian boyband. On first listen, I found Who Do You Love a little jarring with the drop, but I quickly grew to love it, particularly the final one! Luke's vocals are the strongest part, though, he sounds so good.

31 Katy Perry - Never Really Over | 2-3-5-4-8-12-20-25-32-35-x

One of the most triumphant songs of the year, Katy Perry's Never Really Over was also an unlucky #2. Released on one of the busiest weeks of the year, which saw eight new entries in my top 10, Never Really Over managed to conquer all bar one - When It's Midnight by froy, which, to be fair, is still to come, so it's not unjustified! Nevertheless, it's a shame this couldn't have achieved a #1 peak, because it's Katy proving she's still got it when the public began to write her off. The melodies, the vocals, the lyrics, it's simply a perfect pop song with no strings attached. Seeing it become a hit was a heart-warming moment

2019 | 088 | Harleys In Hawaii

2019 | 136 | 365 (Zedd & Katy Perry)

Giving Black on Black a listen now as I was a fan of Boots (great to see that here as well!) but not heard anything else from him, this certainly feels a lot poppier but good in its own way as well! Could certainly grow on me.
