January 21, 20205 yr I don't think I've listened to any of those albums in full sadly (mainly because I only did that with about 3 albums last year) but I've heard quite a lot of the MARINA album, it really does have some gems on it!
January 22, 20205 yr Author I don't think I've listened to any of those albums in full sadly (mainly because I only did that with about 3 albums last year) but I've heard quite a lot of the MARINA album, it really does have some gems on it! A good choice of album to have heard most of from all of them, tbh! *_* Thanks for commenting Pete! :D
January 22, 20205 yr Author 11 Aitch - AitcH2O 12 Harry Styles - Fine Line 13 James TW - Chapters 14 Picture This - MDRN LV 15 P!nk - Hurts 2B Human 16 Lewis Capaldi - Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent 17 Post Malone - Hollywood's Bleeding 18 Camila Cabello - Romance 19 Noah Taylor - The World and All Its Wonders 20 Nina Nesbitt - The Sun Will Come Up, The Seasons Will Change The much anticipated follow-up to Nina Nesbitt's debut album Peroxide arrived at the beginning of this year - and she went in with a long title, but then went one step further with its repackaged version by deciding to add '& The Flowers Will Fall' onto the end of that too. This album is a massive step up from her debut, with almost every one of the songs being brilliant and unique in their own ways. Relatively new albums from Noah Taylor and Camila Cabello feature in this section - The World and All Its Wonders being Noah Taylor's debut following a string of standalone releases and an EP; it's such a treat for the ears! Camila's meanwhile is not as great as her self-titled debut album, but still delivers some of the most exciting songs of the year! Post Malone was a big surprise this year - I didn't expect to love Hollywood's Bleeding as much as I do (seeing as I still haven't listened to beerbongs & bentleys, oops) - but with songs like Goodbyes and Circles, it was a given. Lewis Capaldi's debut album Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent took a LONG time to worm its way into my affections. When I first listened, each song sort of blended into one and I wasn't that impressed, but over time and certainly since its re-release, I've grown to love it a lot and now wish I was seeing him live on tour. P!nk came back quite soon after Beautiful Trauma with yet another album, Hurts 2B Human - this one was a lot more instant for me than the aforementioned, and it has so much to enjoy outside of the singles. It's a shame the era was over and done with so quickly because there could have been many singles! Picture This' debut album MDRN LV was a revelation - I discovered them on Spotify before they started breaking out and receiving attention - with a unique, quirky sound that made me fall in love, and I'll soon be seeing them live when they support Jonas Brothers on their UK tour! James TW's album Chapters was a long time coming - it felt like we'd have single release after single release, but there was never an album in sight. Finally, we got an album full of all those releases with very little new music to enjoy, but that aside it's such a great album and he's come a long way since supporting Shawn Mendes on his first two world tours. Closing this section out and just missing the top 10 we have Harry Styles and Aitch. Fine Line is one of the most recent albums to appear in the countdown, having only been released in December 2019. It's made a great impact thus far though. It's a massive improvement on Harry's debut album, and a lot of the tracks are so feel-good and leave you wishing the album was double the length! Not quite his debut album, but Aitch's AitcH2O is a fantastic way to introduce himself having featured on some massive tracks in 2019. It's great to see one of the best tracks from the 'album' - Buss Down - taking off now and I'm incredibly excited to hear more from Aitch in the next decade! Next: 6-10 (Top 40 Albums of 2019)
January 23, 20205 yr Author 6 Stormzy - Heavy Is the Head 7 Matteo Markus Bok - Cruisin' 8 Jonas Brothers - Happiness Begins 9 Isaac Dunbar - balloons don't float here 10 Andreas Wijk - Season 1 [Episode 01-14] Down to the top 10 albums of the year now, and at #10 we have Andreas Wijk with his first album, Season 1 [Episode 01-14]. I was recommended this album by Joseph, and it certainly did not disappoint! It ended up spending two weeks at the top spot in my album chart, and stuck around for a while after that. With songs on the album like Numb, MADONNA, etc - it was full of pop perfection, as well as some rather impressive ballads. We were supposed to get a second Andreas album in February 2019, but that hasn't come to fruition yet and instead we've seen standalone releases scattered throughout the year - here's hoping 2020 is the year we get another from him. Just ahead at #9 is probably my biggest and best discovery of 2018 and 2019 - Isaac Dunbar. His debut album/EP balloons don't float here immediately entered my album chart at #1 after he'd already released a number of songs that also charted high in my singles chart. The album was full of amazing songs, and some even reached #1! Isaac's just released another brand new song this week too, and has announced a tour where he'll be stopping by London - so I'll be booking a ticket for that because this is someone I definitely don't want to miss seeing live! The Jonas Brothers returned in 2019 with their first album in a long time, Happiness Begins. Their comeback seemed to come out of nowhere when we were treated to the album's lead single Sucker, then Cool came along and I was firmly on the stan boat. The album itself is an all-round pop masterpiece, and I can't wait to see them live in February! They have the pop bangers like Rollercoaster, the beautiful ballads like I Believe, and so much more. Matteo Markus Bok released his album Cruisin' in 2019, and while I didn't jump on it immediately, when I did give it a listen it automatically became one of my favourites of the year. It spent several weeks at the top of my album chart, and it produced one of the finest pop songs in In the Middle, but also features the amazing SLO-MO, El Ritmo (AHI AHI AHI) and Besos Besos. Can't wait to hear more new music from Matteo in the future, because at just sixteen it seems like the future is limitless for him if this is what he's starting out with. Finally, we have the last of the most recent albums appearing in the countdown, and this time it's Stormzy's Heavy Is the Head - the follow-up to his debut album Gang Signs & Prayer. I fell in love with this almost instantly after a couple of listens, and was already firmly on board earlier in the year with the likes of Crown and Vossi Bop. The album has a mix of his signature grime as well as some more relaxed, Calum-friendly tunes. So excited to see him live in September! Next: 1-5 (Top 40 Albums of 2019)

January 25, 20205 yr Author 1 Greyson Chance - portraits 2 Emeli Sandé - REAL LIFE 3 Jack & Jack - A Good Friend Is Nice 4 ZAYN - Icarus Falls 5 Taylor Swift - Lover My hype for Taylor Swift's seventh album Lover was so immense - in 2019 I only just started to appreciate reputation for the wonderful album that it is, as well as falling in love with the accompanying tour after it was put on Netflix. The album arrived, and it certainly didn't disappoint. There are a few tracks that maybe flesh the album out a little more than necessary, but overall it has so many bops on it - a real mix of new and classic Taylor that we all love. Highlights from the album for me are Cruel Summer, The Man, Afterglow, Daylight and of course the singles. Girl really needs to get her act together and announce some UK tour dates soon though. I really hope this isn't an era she completely bypasses a grand tour for. Just ahead of Taylor at #4 is ZAYN - by far one of my all-time favourite artists. His second album Icarus Falls builds on his already unique, sometimes very mellow, style from his debut album Mind of Mine. Although it's a whopping 27 tracks, it really doesn't feel like there's much filler at all, besides some of the singles he released that feel tacked onto the end for the sake of it. Basically all of the songs we didn't hear before the album's release are outstanding though - There You Are being quite possibly one of the biggest missed opportunities ever. It's undeniably Zayn's best song for me, and I can't wait until we hear more new music because he just keeps getting better every time I hear his voice! Jack & Jack's debut album A Good Friend Is Nice was a very pleasant surprise at the beginning of the year. Besides their feature on Jonas Blue's hit single Rise, I hadn't paid *too* much attention to them in the past, but was aware of their existence and had heard some of their music prior to this. Their album, however, blew me away completely and it spent a massive six weeks at the top of my chart! It served us the bops and it served us the moody ballads - it was the perfect mix. Songs like Promise Me, Lotta Love, Used to You Now, Day Dreaming and No One Compares to You prove why they should be absolutely massive. I'm so gutted I missed them on tour too, so I'm hoping that by the time we get more new music from them they're willing to come back to Scotland and give us a show full of hits from this album and the (potential) next! Just missing out on the top spot at #2 is Emeli Sandé with her third album REAL LIFE. This album is a lot less 'monumental' (in terms of commercial success) than her previous two, but it's certainly her best to date, I think. I had the privilege of meeting Emeli on the Real Life Tour in November, and it was one of the most iconic moments of my life - standing next to a woman that has given me some of the most relatable, beautiful, honest, sincere and amazing lyrics, songs and stories over the past nine years was incredible - and I've got a photo of the moment that I'll cherish forever (a rare occasion where I actually liked a photo of myself, lmao!). That aside, the album is so inspiring. Each song has its own message - most are inspirational and encourage you to be the best version of yourself you possibly can be; or reassure you that no matter what curveballs or challenges life may throw at you, you're not alone and we're all in this together. Highlights for me are Free as a Bird (the best on the album), Real Life, Same Old Feeling, and I've recently started to appreciate Extraordinary Being loads despite initially not liking it a great deal when it was released to accompany the latest X-Men film. Although it's probably a few years off, more of the same for Emeli's fourth album would be very welcome! Finally, we reach the #1 album of 2019 - and of course it's none other than Greyson Chance's album portraits. I was so hyped for this album to be released - before it was, I started immersing myself back into Greyson's discography, re-familiarising myself with his debut album as well as his later EPs. portraits feels like the most honest representation of the type of music Greyson wants to release, and a true documentation of what's happened in his life and what's shaped him into the fine man he is today! There's so much to enjoy on the album; even the interlude-type tracks are great, and highly amusing. It was surreal to hear him speaking to someone in one of the tracks, asking what the best strip club in Vegas was, only to then literally see that club in real life when I visited Las Vegas myself in September. I won't go into too much detail about the tracks on the album because I don't want to spoil the top 300 singles countdown, but there are songs on here that have gone on to mean SO much to me and to hear them live when I saw him both in London and Glasgow in October, was so beautiful. I managed to get plenty videos and pictures to capture the memories forever, as well as also meeting him! He's such a lovely person, and I can't wait to hear what's in store with his next album - hopefully there'll be some sneak peeks on his Euro Tour 2020 when I see him live in London (with Joseph *.*) again! January 25, 20205 yr Author 291 Jeremy Zucker feat. Bea Miller - comethru 292 Alessandro Casillo - Hasta Luego 293 Dermot Kennedy - Rome 294 Sammy Wilk - Livin' Life 295 Nicki Minaj - MEGATRON 296 Ava Max - Salt 297 DJ Spoony feat. Zak Abel - Gotta Get Thru This 298 Miss Benny - One Damn Good Mistake 299 Andreas Wijk - Peace 佑 Piəɔə 300 Oscar Enestad - Sign of My Love Now, the countdown you've all been waiting for - the top 300 songs of 2019! We kick things off with Oscar Enestad and his cute little single Sign of My Love - not one I've gone back to a lot since the first number of listens, but it's cute nonetheless. Andreas Wijk, a breakthrough artist for me this year with his album Season 1 [Episode 01-14] appears with a standalone single, Peace 佑 Piəɔə. It didn't break any records in my chart, but a nice enough song and hopefully an indication of his future efforts. Miss Benny, an LGBT artist that's caught my attention, came back at the end of 2019 with another new single - One Damn Good Mistake - and it's just as dreamy and beautiful as his other material. Zak Abel featured on Gotta Get Thru This, a track from DJ Spoony's Garage Classical album and it's amazing; Zak's signature vocals that you could recognise anywhere on a bop that I often go back to. One of Ava Max's more recent singles Salt appears in this section too. My problem with Ava is that most of her singles all blend into one and sound the exact same, but Salt's decent enough and quite catchy. Nicki Minaj hasn't really released anything of note in 2019, but MEGATRON is probably one of her best songs in recent times. It was one of the last before she "retired", only to come back a week or so later, featuring on another song that didn't make any impact at all. Sammy Wilk's Livin' Life is a cute song, if not groundbreaking at all, and Dermot Kennedy's Rome is a song taken from his debut album Without Fear - one of my favourites when listening through. I'm not expecting any more singles from the album, but I'd hope this would be in contention if there were. Alessandro Casillo appears with the most prominent song, Hasta Luego, from his album that also featured in my top albums of 2019. It's a bop that goes off and I really need to listen more! Finally, closing this section out is Jeremy Zucker with comethru (which also features Bea Miller), the one track that made me take notice of him. Jeremy and Bea's voices work so well together, and it's a cute little song. Next: 281-290 (Top 300 Songs of 2019)

January 25, 20205 yr Author 281 Sam Fender - Dead Boys 282 Gabrielle Aplin feat. JP Cooper - Losing Me 283 Joel Adams - Kingdom 284 Michael Medrano - Fluids 285 Conan Gray - Comfort Crowd 286 Lewis Watson - Fly When I Fall 287 SG Lewis feat. Ruel - Flames 288 Benjamin Rihan - Talk About You 289 LZRD feat. Jake Miller - Anything Anymore 290 Isaac Dunbar - diamonds are a girl's best friend Isaac Dunbar, one of my biggest discoveries of 2018/2019, makes his first appearance of many in this countdown with one of the tracks from his debut EP balloons don't float here - diamonds are a girl's best friend. This isn't among my top highlights from the collection, but it's a beautiful song and really showcases his talents. LZRD, a relative unknown, collaborates with Jake Miller on Anything Anymore, a great track that stands out among Jake's 2019 releases. Benjamin Rihan's Talk About You and Flames - a collaboration between SG Lewis and Ruel - also appear. The former is a cute Scandipop track, while the latter is a bop, but not quite among the best that Ruel's put his name to. Lewis Watson's Fly When I Fall is a beautiful track that came before another song yet to appear in the countdown, and it's got me hyped for his next album... whenever that's going to be released. Comfort Crowd isn't Conan Gray's best release to date, but it's an adorable track and one that I should be going back to more often in preparation for his debut album - Kid Krow - being released in 2020. That's sure to be amazing! Michael Medrano's Fluids was one that I came across when I was searching for music on some blogs, and it's a great song. It's got a funky vibe to it, and probably not something I'd listen to if it didn't have such smooth, slick vocals on it. It was a potential of mine for BJSC in the last couple of months too, but ultimately that never came to fruition. Joel Adams, Gabrielle Aplin and JP Cooper all make appearances in this section - Joel's track Kingdom is a great listen, while Losing Me, a collaboration for the latter two artists, is a great new direction that Gabrielle decided to go in, and it's good to hear her soothing vocals matched with a male artist's. Finally, Dead Boys by Sam Fender was one of the first I listened to from the Newcastle-born BRITs Critic's Choice winner. The titular track from his Dead Boys EP is fun and catchy, while at the same time showcasing his signature style that I came to love on his album Hypersonic Missiles. Here's hoping if he manages to put an album out there's more of the same featured on it. Oscar Enestad appears again, and for the final time, with I Love It - another of his singles, and it's an up-beat, catchy tune! The version of Trampoline featuring ZAYN by SHAED is elevated with Zayn's dreamy vocals, however it's not the best song in the world, but because Zayn gives it that extra something it had to break into my chart. tyler drama's single HOLDING ON was a massive surprise - he's not really wowed me with his music prior to this, but this song truly goes OFF. Alexander Stewart has released single after single in 2019, and this won't be his last appearance in the countdown, but Best Damn Thing makes it in because he really is on top form with the slices of pop perfection! Andreas Wijk appears again, this time with his gorgeous ballad will you be there when the summer ends. It's not like most of his album, but it's another great song to add to his catalogue, and it was a welcome change following mostly up-beat songs. Blake Rose is another artist I've discovered on Spotify while going through New Music Friday and Discover. His single Lady is a great song, and I can't wait to hear more from him in the future. PRETTYMUCH's single, the titular track from their Phases EP, is a great song, and the best offering from that EP. Expect to see more of them as the countdown goes on. Alessia Cara gave us a few releases in 2019 before going on to release an EP, and one of the first songs we were treated to was Ready. She hasn't yet topped Scars to Your Beautiful (and tbh, probably never will at this rate), but it's a lovely track that's comfortably among her best. Finally, This Love is one of the best album tracks on Camila Cabello's sophomore album Romance. Some of the album tracks aren't great, but this is up there in the top five. Ashleigh Murray & KJ Apa - People Like Us People Like Us was one of the small saving graces of the third season of The CW's teen drama Riverdale. It's probably my favourite song that the cast of the show have done to date, and it was included in such a beautiful scene between Archie and Josie (Ashleigh Murray and KJ Apa) - so that made it all the more enjoyable. Josh Mac and Noah Taylor both appear in this section with songs from their albums that have both done relatively well in my album chart. CALIFORNIA is a great song, and Black + Blue is a beautiful ballad that really showcases Noah's vocals. Denis Coleman achieved a top 10 hit in my chart at the very end of 2019 with Without You - so here's hoping there's more music from him around the corner to keep bopping along to. Miss Americana & The Heartbreak Prince is an album track from Taylor Swift's seventh album Lover, and it's one of the best. It's a beautiful, poignant ballad and hopefully it gets some exposure with her upcoming Netflix documentary, aptly titled Miss Americana. New Rules appear with one of their less good songs since I discovered them, but it's still a really great song in its own right. Much of what's on their EP is better, but they have to start somewhere just like everybody else, don't they? I can't wait to hopefully hear this live though when I see them in Glasgow in February! ROXANNE by Arizona Zervas didn't chart in my singles chart at all, but since its exposure in the official charts, I've found myself really enjoying it so it sneaks its way into the countdown at the last minute! Ruel makes an appearance with Face to Face, one of the tracks from his Free Time EP - this was one of my favourites when I saw him live towards the end of 2019 (although tbf the whole set was fantastic!). JP Saxe and Julia Michaels' collaboration on soft ballad If the World Was Ending appears - not Julia's finest moment, but it's a cute track that both lend themselves very well to. Finally, AJ Mitchell's Unstoppable is one of his most recent single releases, but it didn't quite reach the same heights as some others yet to appear in the countdown, sadly. January 26, 20205 yr Author 251 Camila Cabello - First Man 252 Ava Max - Torn 253 Jake Miller feat. Tomos - NERVOUS 254 Chance the Rapper feat. Shawn Mendes - Ballin Flossin 255 Zedd & Kehlani - Good Thing 256 AJ Mitchell - Out My Mind 257 Kameron Michaels - Freedom 258 Emeli Sandé - Extraordinary Being 259 Andreas Wijk - What NOW??? 260 Logan Henderson - Pull Me Deep I discovered Logan Henderson around late 2018, and started listening to his releases as they were drip-fed more recently, and Pull Me Deep stands out as one of his best from an album that's full of lots of enjoyable tracks. What NOW??? is one of the best songs on Andreas Wijk's album, however there's still more to come from him in the countdown! I wasn't a massive fan of Extraordinary Being at all to begin with - couldn't believe it was a single if I'm honest - but it's grown on me over time and when she conveyed the message on tour and what it means to her and what she hopes it will mean to other people, I was sold and now I love the song so much. Drag queen Kameron Michaels appears with his single Freedom - slightly ropy vocals but it's such a fun track nonetheless! Another AJ Mitchell song of the 20,000 or so that were released in 2019, and this time it's Out My Mind from his Slow Dance EP - a great track. Zedd and Kehlani's collaboration on song Good Thing was a bit underwhelming at first, but I've grown to love it a lot and it's a good outing for the pair; certainly a step up from the former's collaboration with Katy Perry on the abomination that is 365. Chance the Rapper's album track Ballin Flossin featuring the vocals of Shawn also sneaks in here - a fun, groovy track that makes you feel good on an album that I otherwise would never listen to. Jake Miller, Ava Max and Camila Cabello all pop up again in this section. Jake's single NERVOUS is definitely among my favourites from 2019; his voice lends itself brilliantly to dance songs, so I hope there's more of this in the future. Torn isn't my favourite Ava Max song, but it's got a great chorus that I love singing along to. First Man is one of the standout album tracks on Romance, and Camila's vocals having a moment to shine with almost no backing track is great. The message in the song is stunning too, and quite emotional. Next: 241-250 (Top 300 Songs of 2019)
