I'd have actually been happy with 'Friends' being the lead single two years ago and him continuing in that sort of direction.

I feel like this is objectively awful, and people are only “enjoying” it because of an obsession with Bieber himself

Am I the only one who doesn't hate it. The lyrics are definitely questionable but I think its quite catchy.

The lyrics aren't great, though that isn't really new territory for Bieber, he's never been the best lyricist around :') I quite enjoy the song, oops at me being the first to say so here. It is very Ariana, and I think it's a good thing! It's like a better version of what he was trying to do on Journals. Is it a Bieber classic? Absolutely not, but I don't think it's anywhere near his worst either.

 

That said, a banger next pls Biebs

It’s not terrible it’s better than a good few of last years #1s anyways. It’s far from his best and I can’t see it being a massive long running #1 now but I still think it’ll be pretty big just more of a break up with ur gf kinda hit rather than a 7 rings.

Anyway I don't kind this at all, it's very different to Purpose Bieber, but it's also clear when he writes he writes about personal experiences hence why this is about Mrs Bieber. Fairly certain from the YouTube announcement video there is at least one more Purpose sounding Bieber song.

Extremely catchy but I’m kinda underwhelmed. This sounds like an album track at best.

 

I kinda have a feeling that this era will be similar to JT’s Man Of The Woods era: divisive and polarizing lead single but then smashes it out of the park with a second single that does nothing, and then the third single smashes lol

This is absolutely terrible and I don't even usually hate his music (just him), if this was anyone else it wouldn't have a chance in hell at #1!!!

I actually think it's kinda catchy lol. He's capable of better and I can see why people expected more, but I went into listening to this thinking it would be career-suicide. It's not much different to the music of any other faceless trap artist and I can see this being a hit, in fact I could have seen this being a hit for anyone that makes this sort of music.
